i did a search, i looked online, mccoy doens't even have a website..

i have a hand full of glow plugs, some used, some new.. but they're all out of package.

OS, odonnels, even HPI stamp them.. mccoy doesn't..

is there away to identify them?

ive noticed my MC59 (med-hot) has a flat full flange nut, where as the MC8 (med) has a double nut faced. im guessing thats how they identify them.

another option.. could you say test the resistance of the glow plug to find out the temp? its worth a try, and i have a ohm meter, so i might give it a try.

i really wished they would stamp, or engrave the ID of the plug.

You can do what you want but I never put a plug back in an engine. Only put new plugs in. If it had to come out then it shouldn't go back in. If there not in the package there junk. Throw them away. Only clean new plugs go in my engines.

dont want to take a chance on dropping a glow filament coil inside my internals.

I know this is an old thread, but for anyone that's wondering, I was told that the easiest way to tell the MC59 from the MC9 is that the MC59 has a larger hole in the body for the filament. The MC8 and MC9 share the same size, smaller hole, the obvious difference between these two being the groove around the hex on the MC8.
