Trim, and subtrim, whats the difference? Also, a question about mixing.
 

I know they use mixing in the 1:5 scale cars, but for 1:8 and below, is there any real use for it?

Is it that I make no sense, or that it's a stupid question?

Some people say that if you adjust your trim that your balance will be off where if you adjust your subtrim so the car goes straight the balance stays the same left to right. Mixing, I haven't ever used it or know anything about it, 1/5's are a different beast and mixing prolly is just something they use for their braking system???? I think it's best to just set your stuff up as linear as possible and learn how to drive it and not mess with that stuff from track to track b/c you can forget you changed it and your car is out to lunch. The best thing is to get good wheeltime, if you use all of practice to get the car dialed in but have only run a few laps with it and don't know it's characteristics, limits, or how it needs to be driven then that can, not always, make you slower than if your car was almost dialed in just right but you have a lot of practice time just driving it and learning how it needs to be driven to get your consistency down.

I'm still confused though, as to how trim and subtrim is different. On the outside they both turn the wheels left and right. My radio has something called ATV, which allows me to adjust how far to the left and right I want the servo to move, then there is also trim and subtrim. When using it, I realize that the trim moves the servo in much smaller intervals, so it's better for those minute changes needed, but in the manual, I get the impression that the subtrim is used more to "center" the servo, like if you wanted to get that perfect 90 degree link, and then the trim would be used to get the wheels straight while the ATV will give you control as to how much to the left and right you want the servo to move.

Is my thinking correct?

Subtrim moves the whole range of the servos movement, while trim just moves the servos neutral position in the current range of movement.
