The FW05 (btw: latest one is FW06) should be better for as it have enclosed drive system which can deal with the dust and sand much better. The hype is more for track.

If you really are going to bash only and never race it, I would look into tha Jato 3.3. It can be made for street running only and will be one of the fastest and least expensive street machines you can pick

For true street bashing, look at the Traxxas Nitro 4-tec 3.3. The thing is stupid fast straightline and you can easily get it over 55mph right out of the box after properly breaking in the engine and some tuning. With a change in the tires and gearing, you can get it to the claimed 70mph that they state on the box (a little tweak in the engine tuning as well). But, you can have too many bumps, breaks, or ruts in your running surface because this car is very low to the ground (less than a 1/2 inch). Like someone else stated, you can also go with the Traxxas Jato 3.3 is you need the extra ground clearance though you may not hit the speeds of the Nitro 4-tec 3.3.
