I am going to look through the list, maybe pick one up myself if someone can be kind enough to ship one out to me.
Thanks for the head's up on the payment stuff. I figure I'll have y'all Paypal me (?) and then I'll place the order. Probablly having it sent to Lon since most of the bodies will be for him!

No problem adding you to the order, the shipping will best be worked out on an individual basis, but I'm sure it will not be a problem.

I'm not trying to cause any trouble, however, I have a concern.

Just my opinion. Why not keep this very simple and allow any 8th scale body? There are so many readily available CanAm / GTP Bodies that are less expensive, I imagine offer far superior handling (which will result in less broken parts), better motor cooling, which are much easier to refuel and temp.

Having to order bodies from an over sea distributor seems an expensive way to go. Could be very expensive testing bodies to find out which ones have decent handling. Some of these could be real bad - I would hate to spend the money to find that out. It could be hard to get together a second order of 20 bodies if more new people join in.

France has a very successful 8th Pan Program. They already sorted this all out. They run sports bodies - simple. The Pros are Cheaper, Superior Handling (resulting in less broken parts), Superior Engine Cooling, Easier Pitting and Readily Available. The Cons?? Appearance?? That's personal taste I guess.

I really dislike spending more money on an inferior product.

Just something to consider before a Body order is placed. Once some people have invested in 20 bodies, it will be hard to go back.

I'm looking forward to the Results of this weekend's MidWest Series Race in Toledo. Have FUN and let us know how it goes.

Question - someone mentioned that Garen can get another make Pan Car. Which one is that?

That's 'cause you are a racer!! I almost always buy what I like, and pretty much always have. Since this hobby/sport was supposed to be about "realistic competition between models of actual racing cars", that's one of the areas that got out of control and added to the decline. The currentlly used bodies are a JOKE!

If I heard it once, I heard it 1000 times from the "founders" of RC (most of whom were active in slots) "Don't ever let the bodies get to be "Thingies" like slotcars did!!!"

My opinion is that you are missing the point. The point is not to duplicate the current class but ot do something different.

There are so many readily available CanAm / GTP Bodies that are less expensive The currently available bodies you speak of are not CanAm or GTP bodies at all. They are caricatures of cars run in endurance racing and maybe in obscure (in the US) European Series.

I imagine offer far superior handling (which will result in less broken parts) better motor cooling, which are much easier to refuel and temp. Not looking of "superior handling" if the cars are a bit slower the handling becomes less of an issue and fewer parts will be broken because less hard crashes should occur at lower speeds. (By having better handling your ideas will result in higher speeds and more broken parts) Another way to cool the motor is to run it richer, temping the engines has not been a problem, the heads are generally right up against the roof, refueling, to me at least, may require some thought, but is not an issue worth worring about.

As has been said before "you don't go (RC) racing to save money"
And also again, the idea is not to test bodies to find the best handling ones, seems to me the majority commenting here are intersted in using the "vintage bodies". If "another" order for 20 bodies is needed (we have not got one order yet!) the Motonica body could always be used.

As far as just duplicating the French rules, I am certain the circumstances in France and the US are considerably different regarding 1/8 scale RC Car Racing. France and sounds like the rest of the world appearently have highly developed racing structures with many tracks and clubs and many more participants than in the US. (Is there a reason there are NO US designed/built 1/8 scale on-road cars?)

Maybe this class is not suited for all. Some of us think Unlimited 4WD is not for us. To each his own!!

I don't have the 2WD chassis yet but I want on the list for bodies please. Here are my selections for GT and for classic Can-Am. Let me know what I have to do for the payment. When I started RC racing back in 1981, we were all running this type of body and the memories were still fresh of the real thundering CAN-AM cars, glory days of Trans-Am and rapidly developing GT cars which made racing the RC versions so much more fun. I'm totally in.

Quan Part # Description
2 S0705 Mercedes AMG DTM
2 S0708 Lola Ford T610

This is going to be some sort of fun with these bodies. If the order doesn't fill up, I'd like to add to my list.
Lon- Guys should be able to get two bodies for each of their pan cars, if they want. (Except Matt and me 'cause we have too many we don't use! )

How we'll deal with the 1/12 scaler, I don't know

After all, you are the Father of the NEW PAN CAR CLASS!!!!

if you are ordering a body with a seperate wing ontop, the wing is not included. You need to order http://www.deltaplastik.it/index.php...i&l=eng&id=785 as well if you would desire a wing.

Good luck and if possible, make some video's of your races.

Only saying it doesn't include the wing, it would be $5.42

Has anybody contacted Mike MacDowell over at Parma to see what molds are in the archives that they would be willing to make small runs on - might be a better choice than sending money to the king of backpouring Delta Plastik

Thanks, Rick! That sounds like a plan. I'll give it a try, but I imagine it might be difficult to get much of a variety in small quanties... Never hurts to ask tho.
