Word has pretty much rolled down from the top that 3 port motors will no longer be produced unless there is a order for like 20 of them at a time. No one would have thought they would pull the plug on this motor when everyone agreed to the three port engines. So even if rules had been put in place it wouldn't have changed novarossis mind on production schedules. They just aren't selling enough of them to bother with them. Now the 5 port motors look to be the option.

I'm not sure why I'm the one posting this info. Jeff and Lon sr are on the front lines of this, not me.

Lon II out!

No wonder I can only find a couple ( high priced at that)... I have an offer
standing on one on eBay for 185.00...so what say ye Lon Sr Poobah??..
I suggest up to 5 ports... There are many more choices without
eclipsing the 300.00 mark..,

That's my boy! Any how this was never planned as a Novarossie class but their motor fit like a glove, then it was gone. Garen isn't saying if the Motonica 3-port is out there yet. Guess there are buggie motors out there but I know nothing about them (can't really suggest them.)

Just got some input from Jeff Z. with input from Jeff W. Anyone with a thought on this, let me know. The simple 3-port class doesn't appear to go as the class needs motors that anyone can get. A 3-port and a restricted 5-port class? Yes my offer to tech still stands. The 5-ports are out there and don't appear to be going away soon. What do you think?

You can also try here:

http://www.thercshack.com/fmsplus21-...rboplug-1.aspx EDIT: OUT OF STOCK!

Of course, if we just require a small restrictor, then there's no reason to limit to three ports, and that gives many more engine choices in the sub-$200 range:

Lon ...good ideas... Maybe we run the 3 port motors with open
restrictor... And 4 and 5 port motors with a 7mm???... Should
help hold down the RPM of the 5 ports...???...

Lots of option then like Howard posted...

http://www.absolutehobbyz.com/produc...oducts_id=6064

then we have Davis machine Jeff a 3mm reducer....... : )

Howard...I think this would be perfect motor...Newbie wallet friendly!!...

Default Sounds Right?

I think an open restrictor for 3 port motors and a 7mm restrictor for 5 port motors seems reasonable and a good place to start. There are quite a few 3, 4, and, 5 port On and Off road motors out there. The variety of these options makes it fun and interesting and It would be fairly easy to tech these options if needed. Specifying the cost of a motor hangs me up a little just because the retail cost thing can get a little iffy with deep discounts, eBay and such. If you spend 350 on a nice 5 port buggy motor and then put a 7mm restrictor on it, I suspect you won’t go faster anyway. It might however last longer than a 150 dollar buggy motor.

We will run two pan cars for 2014. The car “formally known as the Rubber Band” but still French Fry DFX car and our new WRC 2013 car. We ran an Off-Road motor last year and I thought it ran pretty well so we may just stick with Off-Road based motors. I think this class can grow. A little self-policing, some easy to follow rules and a slant towards fun will certainly help.

Also don't want to limit by cost..... As costs
can vary widely... Where's Poo-Bah??

In a summer of grenading several higher dollar RB c6 buggy motors, I had a great experience running a Nova budget 3 port. The 086 pipe listed as best match is a monster though. HUGE!

Just chiming in, hi guys!

You may want to pull the button off the motor when you get it and see how many ports it has. NR has offered that series of buggy motors for the last 5 years under various model names, and I have gotten a variety of ports (3,4 and 5) and differing cranks depending on the particular run. It seems like NR uses that engine as a place to build budget Frankenmotors using whatever surplus parts they are trying to get rid of....the A Main description is completely inaccurate and has been for years - they haven't made that 13mm, square bore/stroke, aluminum carb'ed version in years (wish they still did - I thought they were a great small track/low traction buggy motor...). All of them run real good, however, and the 086 pipe works good on all of them. (Budget tip: use a Dynamite hard anodized version of the 086, and available with out the buggy header, which you won't use anyway...perfect pipe, and indestructible - perfect for the 2wd ethos). If you want to be sure you're getting a 3 port NR, choose the Novarossi .21 P3XS Off Road 3-port Standard Engine - $179 before using a coupon at Absolute Hobbyz. Basically the 3 port version of the legendary NR P5...The Fusion 3 port would also be very good.

Personally, I'd stay away from the Chinese/Taiwanese 3 ports like the Losi, Dynamites, Ofnas etc. The carbs and bearings are nowhere near as good, and you pay so little more to get a genuine NR in this level of motors, that it just doesn't pay IMO.

http://www.serpentamerica.com/shop/p...&cat=78&page=1. so Desotos description could be inaccurate also??...How the hell would a highly reputable co. like Novarossi advertise it as a 3 and it may be a 4 or 5??...so now I may have a high dollar paperweight??........now I'm rethinking all this spec crap...it never works out in the end...because even if we all run 3 ports...it only takes a smart guy with a Dremel and a modified sleeve...then whammo another open class..

http://www.sgrid.com/forum/entry.php...engine-timings guess we never discussed changing timing on the 3 ports...

you want cheap header/pipe?.. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Team-Solar-1...item19e525f5af damn cheap
