Default New car - wich class

Hi guys. I am looking to buy a new car. I have already owned a v-one r and a v-one rrr evo.

Now I am wondering if i should move up to the 1/8 track class. I have circuits both for 1/8 and 1/10 nearby.

You guys have any reccomendations? I want to stick with kyosho since I loved my old cars.

1/8th scale is awesome but is really expensive motors twice as much tires twice as much but all in all its a really fun class master sedan before moving to eighth scale trust it will pay off.

Tommy it is almost the same spend these days
Sedan you need to have at least 4 different shores in your arsenal
1/8th 35 gets you everywhere or 37's
Sedan motors are not cheap either & you can get .21 between 350-400
1/8th are more forgiving on the boards than sedan
Mugen MRX4X & I have 1 on the 4 sale thread

Im not convinced GM.

The 1/8 cars are more expensive when racing at hobby level.
Tyre, motor and fuel costs are all significantly higher. Boy are those babies thirsty!

Here is a question to which I have not heard a satisfactory answer though:

Why are 1/8 kits so much more expensive than 1/10 kits?

The same reason f1 cars cost more than nascars 8 scale cars have more
bottomend, midrange, and topend. They also have more cornering speed they are just faster all the way around. At 301 raceway 8 scales are about 1 1/2 to 2 secs faster per lap than a 10 scale car with equal drivers.

The cars are bigger, so more material, more machining hours.
The kits are heavier, so more costs shipping them around the world.
All of this adds up in a higher kit price.

If you want to stick with Kyosho, then get the Evolva M3 Evo car.

+1 great car can't wait till the weather breaks over here in Maryland so I can run mine. It Is the current world champion and it also won the 1999,2003,2005,2007 1/8 scale worlds for the people that don't know. That speaks voulme so there is really only one choice you can go with talk/hype or with proven results!!!!! But then what do I know that is just my opinion.

I feel ya man.

I would probably finally buy a new kit if they weren't so outrageously priced. but thats just how it goes, alot of people have a hard-on for super engineered, high technology toy cars. im not saying thats a bad thing but it makes your kit cost a significant amount of money.

Now, If there was a modestly priced club-level 2wd 1/8 kit... I dunno about everyone else, but Id be all over it. I think it would be awesome race in a 1/8 spec class, or a 2wd sportsman class. I think that would be a good step to get people back racing 1/8 on-road.

Nope not buying that one..

The cars are not sufficiently different in size for that argument.

Materials costs are a tiny fraction of the overall costs and therefore not significant.

Machining costs are not related to size ... and 1/10 cars arguably have more machined parts anyway.

Shipping weights are similar .. certainly not different enough to justify the price difference.

Youve not convinced me yet!

Why does a modified onroad .21 motor cost alot more than a modified onroad .12 motor.???? That is like saying why does a 10 scale electric onroad car cost more than a 12 scale car

I am not sure how much it cost but motonica make a 2wd 1/8 scale nitro car and the race them in the 1/8 scale classic class.

im not convinced by the other responses either.

how about this-

because the manufacturers know that people who race, or want to race 1/8 on-road (the pinnacle, or Formula 1 of model car racing) will shell out for it.

I'll buy that for a dollar!!!!!!!!!!

I agree 1/8 is more expensive than 1/10 even with the sedan tire shore variables.
