Tech Regular
Someone mentioned that the team drivers are not allowed to open Nova works mills. So what has tech inspection done at the world championship? Just checked the colours of the cooling head?

Tech still tears them down but the drivers can't.

Could you expain this to me, please? If tech opens them, they will break the seal. Afterwards the driver can open them as well. Or the driver breaks the seal and claims that tech did it. Or the driver watches the tech guy as he opens the engines...

I was told yesterday by one of the drivers that was at the race, that the only thing the techs inspect are the blocks. They engrave numbers on the blocks to identify them. <three engines per driver>
He also told me that they could change piston sleeve on their own, as long as they used the same block.
I let them use one of my engines for the race, and the block does have the numbers engraved on it.

That's for the three engine rule. And yes, the head can be removed all you want, it's the back plate that Nova puts paint on the bolts to see if they have been removed. Again, this is Nova doing this, not IFMAR.
I was not at this race but in 2003 they tore down the top few finishers motors for inspection after the main. I seriously doubt Nova is going to give one of their drivers a hard time right after he finished at the top in the final. Especially since the Nova folks were there in person.

With the 3 engine rule it is difficult to change a rod but I think drivers can give their engines to a maintenance team although a normally runned in engine with a fresh rod should hould such an event..

Looks just like the Zytec but it is a single seater. Anyone know what body this is?

I am not familiar enough with either body to tell the difference but don't go by the post race photos with the nicely painted body. The one he actually ran was plain white. It's in redrc's photo gallery.

Just did some close viewing. The white body on his car in the redrc photos is not the same as the A-R10 on his website, though they look almost identical. The one difference I can see is that the body he ran had louvers right over top of the front tires like most bodies do. The one on his site has a very small set of louvers more towards the nose in front of the front tires.
I see Shimo ran the 909. Good to see one Protoform make the show
