I think all the cars have the same geometry and are capable of being set up exactly the same if the driver wants. If one car or company engineers something that gives a clear advantage the rest will copy.
Its not like the old days. Ive been out of racing for 8 years and now that I have come back it I feel I can have a top car from purchasing car and engine from my local hobby store.
Collari or Swauger can buy a tuned engine off the shelf and win the nationals.

I think strategy and things is one of the major advantage from Collari and his team. They let someone other do the TQ (Pietsch) to let away pressure and main attraction and then show at the right time who´s the boss.
But as I for myself don´t race gas cars anymore since long a time I still try to understand why Collari could run much longer between each of the pitstops. Anything is different as nobody other could do this from what I saw at the timing stream.

There were others that tried to do it but switched. Picco started out trying a 1 stop but switched to two. I think Josh was trying a 1 stop at the pre worlds but was faster with a 2 stop.

Yes I heard some other tried this but they just could do this with slower laptimes. At least at the Main final Collari could last longer and also did very fast laptimes.
Right after the start Collari was chasing Pietsch but made the pitstop much later. I think this way happened through most of the final.
Is there a way for making the engine much more economical than the competitiors?

I'm sure the engines top world drivers use during the world champ are not same like we use to buy normally from rc shops. I think those engines have the most perfect tolerances and secretly use different material and porting.

Leave the engine question out of the equation. Pietsch and Collari run factory Novarossi engines and they are most likely prepared equal. However, Colari runs the same laptimes (or even quicker) and pits later then Pietsch. That's the topic we are discussing...

Everybody is talking about cars (different, modified ect), engines (factory, modified etc). All this been changed over the years, but one thing, nobody mentioned is radio, it is stick radio, not pistol grip and this can play big portion of winning (prove if I am wromg). Never been chaged- Lamberto always use stick radio.
Masami - Stick transmitter
Collari - Stick transmitter
coincidence?
I tried it years ago having started with a stick transmitter and Rough Rider…years of pistol grip use made it almost impossible for me to go back to a stick transmitter…although it was fun trying….

It doesn't matter, it's just preference. No performance advantage IMO.
Also, Salven uses stick and we all know about his radio issues

Without ever having tried one, I think stick radios are more precise. As far as collari running longer on a tank, Im sure there was a lot of engine tunning, different pipes and headers, different compression settings, and a smoother throttle finger. Smoother doesnt mean slower, I think most of us use the the trigger too much as on-off switch, when we go onto the straight we just gun it, and its not needed. Just MHO.
