Just wanted to know what people thought on which car is better between the two. There isn't much information or forums out there on the 4 tec even though it was on road car of the year for 2009. So does anyone have the 4 tec and let me know why the 4 tec is better than the jato or perhaps why not.

Not sure why you are comparing a truck with a car. The jato is consider a stadium truck. Both are RTR; if you plan on ripping up parking lots then either will do. There should be a ton of info on the traxxas website.

yeh i know its a stadium truck but I've found a lot of information on forums and websites about the jato and most had good things to say. If you look for the 4-tec there isn't much out there at all not even on the traxxas website message boards. There is a total of three threads. So I was trying to get some info on here about people who have the 4 tec.

I have a 4 tec 3.3 and all i have to say about it is its awsome all the way around i run in a huge open parking lot and even that is not enough space lol i would take a 4 tec over a jato for it has more speed but it all really depends on ur prefence

Thanks for the info. How is the steering/ control on the 4 tec? Do you break a lot of parts or is the 4 tec pretty durable for you?

i have not had to replace a single part yet extreamily durable the only thing that go is the bealts they tend to wear out but i have not replaced them. as stearing goes i only ran a jr 590 but it had gread handeling but bought a jr 9100s for my sedan might try it out in the 4 tec plus u can get great hop ups.
when i bought my fortec i got a 2.5 edition (for sale) but put 3.3 parts on it and then bought a roller for $50 and kept that one because it came with mip dog bones and allumim parts was a great bargin for sure

iv had a 4tec for along time,prolly close to 10 years and have only broken anything on it when i was running wide open without a body and ran into stuff.its extremely durable and can take a nice beating,but its lacking 1 thing.the ability to jump.
i would take a jato for that reason only,but the jato front ends are pretty fragile

If you want pure speed, go with the nitro 4-tec 3.3. If you want some flexibility on surfaces to run on, go with the Jato 3.3. Remember, the 4-tec is limited to just smooth surfaces (asphalt/concrete streets, parking lots) whereas the Jato can be run on smooth surfaces as well as rough surfaces (dirt, very low-cut grass, slightly rocky surfaces, etc). Hope this helps you.
