Since i do alot of onroad bashing and tire shredding with my off road vehicles i think its time to get something meant for on road

Where do i start looking, whats a good starter yet easily modable.

Best thing to do is figure out what is racing onroad at your local track.
Sucks to buy something and figure out that no one races that car or that class.. Right now a hot cheaper class is the GT buggy based spec cars..

im thinking more along the lines of parking lot running, im really trying hard not to get back into racing, this hobby is expensive enough just bashing around.

I would add the OFNA CD3 or LD3 to first list. its built like the ASSOCIATED NTC3 but has better transmission parts. See my post in this thread: http://www.rctech.net/forum/nitro-ro...me-advice.html for some links to good bashing cars.

checking the local f/s sites i found a 4tec for $200 cad says it needs a carb, but i checked the parts list for the 4tec on traxxas.com and i see no listing for the carb itself? Any ideas there? I can definitely afford the $200 but i dont wanna buy it if im gonna have to replace the engine.

haha this local guy is a joke, ask for pics he sends me pics of a t-maxx lol.

So based on a strictly model is available at the LHS stance so i dont have to wait if i decide to buy. And keeping in mind that this would basically just be for parking lot racing and bashing. Nothing too serious for the immediate future.

I dont see any local in store availability for any of the other mentioned road warriors (hooray western canada)

Basically the same price give or take $50. Is there pros and cons of either? Sure the 4tec is stupid fast but stock is it controllable? Durability, which is a tougher model? I have up till now always been playing with trucks and buggys that were meant for dirt so the on road scene is new to me. The only thing i know for sure is that its gotta be nitro

Lemme know what you think, i have the itch to get into the onroad scene fairly soon.

Well that's the kicker depending on model it could be the 2.5 or the 3.3 engine. Look on engine. it should say then go to traxxas engine section. if you for some reaseon you don't find it there, go to the Hopmeup store on ebay...they sell alot of peice mill traxxas stuff. There prices are reasonable too.

if you are gonna be bashing only, the NTC3 Plus or HPI RS4 SS Evo (or w/e one is current I dont even know anymore).

the shaft driven drivetrain will have you thankful.

^ that the "new" HPI Rs4? The LHS across from work has a bunch of these. But i havent found a ntc3 yet. How is the rotostart on the hpi? i have been spoiled so far by the ez start on my slayer

i got a CEN CT5-S, which i use for parking lot bashing(i drive mine over multiple netball courts), and its freaking amazing!
the speed is awesome, it just keeps going, and can blow most nitros away(top end especially). its the quickest out-of-the-box rtr (70mph or so...)

parts are easy to get around US, and they are pretty reliable and strong!
i had a tyre blow out(old tyres-my fault), and the car fell down a drain. the drop was about 1.5m and the car landed on all 4 wheels, and NO DAMAGE.
and its incredibly hard to roll over...

I decided to go with the AE NTC3. Got one new in box for a decent price. Trying to figure out how a box that was still sealed by the factory silver/black stickers had a cut up fuel hose from the tank to the pipe. So i guess break in can wait till tomorrow after i get back to the LHS for a chunk of tubing.

Any tips or pointers right off the bat for these things? Must do upgrades and the like?
