heres what what i heard in sedan there was nobody that could stay with
the mike swauger and fukada in the finals. for 1/8th mike swauger also won
that class with josh cyrul leading early on but crashed and broke the car from
there burch took over and was checked out until he had motor or clutch problems and droped out at the end of the race there was only three cars
that were running so i guess this track really is a monster and more so in
1/8th with faster speeds coming through the chicanes.

1/8th results:

Mike Swauger - Mugen MRX-3
Rick Vrielijnck - Mugen MRX-3
Ted Hammer - HPI Proceed (?)

Both Rick and Ted were bump-ups from the 1/8th B Main. Everyone else in the A Main was a DNF...

Thank you Molzer Mowery Racing for providing live, play-by-play, results!!

Well,I'll be damned.

Mugen takes 1st and 2nd in the 8 scale also !

What happened to M.Salven in both classes?

Sounds like the track wants to keep its title as the car eater for a little while longer.

According to the site, Salven hit a wall and broke his car in both races.

Default WTF!?!?!

Damn!!

I guess the Mugen guys must have place a spell over the Serpent drivers in the mains.
It seemed that Serpent was the over all dominating cars in qualifying in all three class but couldn’t secure the big shows victory.

Congrats to Mike Swauger……………..

Default Congratulations Fmolzer!!!!

What a great coverage by you man!!!!!!
You should be a journalist. You made as feel as if we where there, so I took the liberty of cleaning up your post and reprinting it below for everybody to read again.
Thanks
AFM

1/10th Sedan A main
We have a few rain drops as the warm up happens, could be a big issue for the drivers ...the drivers are being introduced, tension is really really high.

Burch starts out pulling in the lead, within 5 minutes Swauger pulled into the lead, and was running away with the race, pulled on the field.
Currently at the 10 minute mark, Fukuda, is in second, Burch in third, Salven in fourth, Swauger has traction rolled once. can he hold the pace?

Swauger stalled on the pit, Fukuda takes on the lead, followed by Burch, Swauger is running, and back on the track. The chase is on.

With 15 minutes mark, Salven pulls his pipe off in the back stretch, Burch is running third, Swauger is chasing Fukuda hard….. 13.1 second laps trying to reel in Fukuda.

With 16 minutes left Swauger pulls back into the lead, he has definitely horsepower. Pulling down the back stretch…… Swauger, Fukuda, Burch....

15 minutes left, Swauger has a body catch on a pit, Fukuda goes back into the lead....Swauger pulls under Fukuda in the carrousel.

Problems in the pit.. Swauger goes a lap down to Fukuda.. now Fukuda, Swauger, Burch..

Swauger smacking the walls looking to catch.

Swauger and Burch closing on Fukuda.

End of the race, Swauger (Mugen MTX3) took the win.. Fukuda (Mugen MTX3) in second, Burch (Serpent 710) in third... Mike Swauger was ballistic. and dominated the whole race…..

Default "The Question"

¿WHAT ENGINE / PIPE COMBINATION DID MIKE SWAUGER USED TO DOMINATE THE SEDAN CLASS IN SUCH WAY??????, Of course without diminishing his obvious driving abilities, but with that field of drivers......man!!!!

That is a good question because it is highly unlikley you will get a straight answer other than one of the standard ones. I plan to ask porferio when he gets home. I know I sent a team engine to porferio a few months back but that doesn't mean anything. It was the same style motor that won the Texas biggie, the Airtronics Challenge, and the Southwest racing series.

what i can tell you is I would lay money it was not an out of the box motor no matter what anyone says.

Congrats Mugen on a fine job.

Congrats to all the other RC tech'rs that made the trip. I'm sure however you came out you learned as much as I did the first time I went. It is one of those races you just have to experience.

Ted, "Hammertime" Hammer. Right on brotha!
you and the Gottfried always give em fit's. I see the winternats Boogie Man reached out and got Dave and Josh again.

Ammdrew/Fmolzer, best coverage yet!

Hey, we are glad you all liked the coverage... Nice that someone paid attention. Like I said in the 710 forum, Swauger had way more HP than anyone in the sedan class. He swoed this all week, He qualified 4:th with a pitstop in the qualifying... Milage was bad but power was insane. I (fmolzer) asked Swaugers pitguy about motor and the best info I could get was that it was a JP. For pipe I don't know but will try to find out. We are just now rolling on 75 headed north.

In 1:8 it really was Burch:s race, he was faster than anyone on the track. he turtled his car twice in the carousel trying to sneak under Fukada but nothing broke, it set him back a little though and he had to work his way back to the top. After he managed to open up a decent lead on the pack, his clutch blew... I litteraly saw parts of flyweights sticking out of the clutch... Then Fukada had the lead with a couple of laps to second. After cruising in the lead for a while, his rear belt gave up and now Takada had it. He enjoyed this for a while until his Rx battery died on him and he was out of the race. The lead was handed over to Swauger and he cruised to take the win. Incredible race to watch... Bad day for Serpent. I especially felt sorry for Salven. Cyryl put Salven to the wall in the chichane after the driverstand. Salven got back on his wheels and busted through the sweeper and backstrech only to find out that his car was broken and did not wat to turn into the dogleg. The car went into the boards with a big WAAAAM and that was the end of the day for Salven. I am only speculating but probably he lost a shock or something similar that did not give him any steering under braking.

As for team Molzermowery racing, we had a lot of fun and made some very good new friends. As for racing, We were not performing as well as we hoped. (does anyone ever?) We had cars that worked really well, but were chasing our eninges without getting them to run they way we wanted to. It was either overheating or it was not making 5 minutes runtime... Chose your pain We were definately not the only ones with this issue though, plenty of people run out of steam around the 4.20 to 4.30 mark... There was also a constant smell of overheated engines in the pits.

An additional comment, you have to take your hat of for a guy like Swauger, he was putting in perfect driving, very clean, very flowing lines and FAST !!!! His car not only had HP, but he was also able to carry a lot of speed through the turns, more than the other cars out there.

I would sugest to say, that no one dominated in main. All the big guys had the same power, but Mike Swager got realy good driving and he got real luck. The fastes cars in sedan class was only on first couple days in Mugen Japan, but in mains they loose that benefit.
BTW, almost nobody could make 5 minuts in qualifying with no pitting, but M.S. got extra 2 laps after time was over ( if I am not wrong) when he got his TQ.
