THanks again Julius, but a chart of comparisons would be good for shock and diff oils. just so when i change over to the new rated shock oil i know which one to start with.

Merry Christmas to all, have a great one.

I have to rebuild the CVD's on my car, but I dont know which pins i need to order. I believe they are the 3mm x 9.8mm pins (i dont have my car at work! ), but I am not sure. Does anyone know for sure if these are the proper pins?

Shawn.
Just make sure you use the pins in the post by pattojr as they have square edges. these pins also exist in rounded edge format but those are not suitable for use in the cvds

30W = 350cst
35W = 600cst
40W = 1000cst
45W = 1400cst
50W = 2000cst

Diff oils are same for W and CST rating

How is the durability of those pins? I see Hudy/Xray pins wear very fast, so can it be a good replacement for Nt1 shafts?

To be more accurate:

Serpent oil (04-01-2005)
W cSt
20 107
25 207
30 370
35 626
40 1070
45 1449
50 2250

Oil tested was supplied by Serpent Benelux on 04-01-2005 and it was compared with a calibration oil.of 100 cSt.

Conclusion:

Serpent oil is way of linear with cSt rating

Thanks for River City!

mine are fine. a diff is easier on them, you may need to replace them more often if you use a spool. the 8th scale ones dont last as long though

Hi... some time ago I had the same problem with the NT1 but now I've solved.

You just have not to screw the pins with the 3x3 setscrew and so let it free. The ballbearing will keep the pin into the CVD. In this way the CVD will also be more free in the rotation, expecially in the corners and the pins will not over-wear.

Patto and Nico, thanks for both advises, I was talking about the differential outdrive side(and rear wheel axle, I use dogbones at rear) I use diffs front and rear, and I use Tamiya VG joint cup grease on them. Even with a play of like 1-2mm, car's behaviour changed completely.

Then we bought a hudy pin replacement tool and hudy pins,and changed them.
Now they wear even faster!

I dont care much on front cvd pins, because its easy to change.
