Typically with the Nascar race it is closed during that time. However I have been out of touch with what happens at Homestead, so Rick or someone will post when it gets re-opened.

Default Which Engine?

Hi,

Which engine would you recommend for the Serpent 733?

Some have told me to get an O.S. engine, some have told me Novarossi or Max Power, some Mega Engine...

I want an engine with low mainenance, relatively high power, and hopefully not too expensive.

Any input will be much appreciated

all engines need some amount of maintenance...similar.
power? depends on the track.

We usually drive on vacant parking lots, not on professional tracks.

Budget: preferably not higher than 200$

I ran the Picco JL3 Red Dot all summer. Ran two gallons of 30% through it and it still has a ton of compression.

http://www.ofna.com/eng-jlr-red-dot-on-road.php

However you MUST run a Picco pipe set and the rod must be changed after every gallon of fuel.

Roger (YR4Dude),
The engine you are referring to have been discontinued.

Thanks for the input guys, the LL3 looks like an engine suitable for my kind of driving.

However, I noticed that none of you mentioned O.S. Engines, is there a reason for that? Is O.S. not a very good engine?

Regards,
Serpent fan

I think a RB Junior 9 would be better. Check eBay, I have seen them at $169 with free shipping in the US.

There are still JLR evo3's out there to be had but there is a Picco evo4 out that resolved the rod problem for the same price and more top speed because it's mostly the same motor with a new crank/rod and a newly designed case. picco 2617 pipe is my favorite for it.

And the rods are about $20, I've seen every engine throw a rod so nobody can say anything will last you 20 gallons and run fast with a .12 :P
