Smile 2nd Hand RC engine

Hi there,

I am thinking of buying a 2nd hand .21 Novarossi engine for my 1:8 from LHS and was wondering what people think of 2nd hand engines.

What should i look for?

Thanks

The only time I would buy a second hand engine is if I knew who had it before, that it ran, and that they looked after it well. Otherwise it's pretty hit and miss.

Thanks for the comments

Another question should I return everything to factory settings and start again?

usually when a seller sells an engine, carburetor setting was tuned with his last run. and i think, its a good starting point already.
u have the chance, strip that engine, pay attention especially on bearings, scratches on the back plate, pit markings on the piston and button head. this marks tells its history.
