I have never work on current Rossi engines, will not know their piston's scirt design, but if talk about Novas ( short rod version-25mm) or Sirio or OS, if you turn your piston with conrod arround (180degree), it will not perfrom and be very fast, for fact. The cut on the piston will face exhaust port when piston goes up , it will open underneath cranckcase chamber and will loose vacuum ( no sucksion from carb). On the way back down it will not create anouhg peressure to transfer mixture from bottom chamber to combustion chamber. It might work, but for sure no perfromance. ( I wasn't talking about the scirt hit the cranckshaft-it defenetly will happened), I am talking about perfromance.
