Default Best

I have both. The xr8 is a great car but parts could become hard to get.If you get the xr8 you'll need to change a couple things. I use a mugen clutch and two speed. The rear shock mounts need to have an extra mounting hole drilled to lay the rear shocks down more. I think you would be better off getting the Mugen as it's a more durable car and parts are plentiful. I do like the way the xr8 handles better but it won't take as much abuse as the Mugen.

I have had two XR8, and now the parts are starting to get difficult to find.
For a starter car to get into on-road, if they are set up right, they are not bad. But they dont compare to the Mugen. I now have two Mugen MRX4X, and these cars are great. You would have to get he XR8 very cheap in price to make it worth your while, and then start looking for parts, because before long, they will be Very hard to locate. Dont get suckered into the car just because it is an 1/8th onroad, and looks like a Mugen. On my XR8s, I swapped out many, many parts for Mugen,Serpent, and even Kyosho

Shoot for the Mugen, I run the Mugens and parts are plentiful, cars are super strong and are the easiest cars to set up and drive. Follow there box setting and your car will be a pleasure to drive from the start. If you new to racing spend time on your clutch.
