Whats the diffrence on a tight or loose tensioner?

on a belt tensioner for any car what is the diffrence from the tension being tight or loose?

when the belt is loose you lose tranfer power and also there is the posibility of loosing your belt during a crash for example.... but when its too tight you again lose transfer power and put extra amount of stress on the belt with no reason.

so for any kit including the nt1 its better to leave it on default?

To start with i would do what ever the manual says providing it's not too loose or tight but over time your belt will stretch so you will probably have to add a little tension down the line or buy a new belt
