If you look at the plastic tree that contains all your shock parts, there would be one unused item that would fit fine as spacers. You can use it as I believe it is about like 5 or 6 mm thick. No drilling or cutting required. I think this was mentioned by ammdrew and fmolzer.

But do note that it makes the front shock tower mounting weak...

I found those rivet shaped plastics that I don't know what they were for... The only drilling was at the lower part of the bodymounting piece where the pin goes.

As of the strenght... It looks weaker... It feels very stiff, and my guess is that the two mounting screws would take the damage as they are longer and float those 5 or 6 mm's... Maybe is better than cutting a shock rod.

If you wanna try it and give your opinion it would be very appreciated big "D"

They were actually for the older shocks that did not make use of the steel balls that snap onto the shock caps...

I tried it before. In fact I assembled the 710 that way using the specific front shock tower spacers that were from 705 (801117).

Like what you say, it looks weak but in reality it may not be. I've tried a few runs with it and did not encounter any problems. But since I lack a long countersunk screw to mount the shock tower with the spacer, I used back the stock mounting. Also with no problems.

I just turned the shock tower around and put two flat head 3x14's .

Took a second look and it feels nice and strong. Maybe a couple of stainless screws would do a good job there, so they'll bend but won't break.

It could be called "Floating front shocks Mod"

I'm gonna crash for SHURE .... So I'll report on how it goes

Now that you mention it... My kit was missing the steel balls to complete the setup and had those cheapo plastic rivets... I knew I wasn't going to use THAT... So I had to go and get a bag ($7.99) of steel balls to be able to finish the "maqina"

Serious question now, D. Could you take a picture of how you mount your shocks on your Losi tool - I'm not sure yet how to best mount my shocks on there.
