By flattening the shock cap by 1mm what exactly does it do? When in a crash does the shocks have more room to move around(more play) so the shafts wont snap as easily? I think that is the main reason for flattening it.

Thanks to Mr. D.. everything is well explainned as always
Please do understand, opinion is like religion.. if you don't feel comfortable, do not follow.. The most important to me is that doing all those mentioned mods, I feel more confident driving the car which is a good start As the flyweight mod, I'm kind of needed to do when running in my local track. Since the layout is rather small and technical, the stock gearing (even lower one) would still not giving enough punch between corner to corner. It's a good one D.
Cyba888.. sorry, I do not have the pics for original shock pivot top. As D mentioned, I only flattenning them by 1mm starting from the top (round part) but NOT till the end. Leave 1mm (original thickness) from the bottom. If you leave 2mm from the bottom, this are would still hitting the lower end of shock tower dependeng on which holes your damper mounted. Yes, you need to bring them to machinist. It would worth the money rather than hurting your hand (..even your eyes sometimes, it happend to me once).
How well it is now handle the crash?? of course my answer would be very well. But the most important is that you have to realise or accept the the problem underlying broken shaft/body/tower is due to lack of pivot top movement. Then you will be happy doing the mods

About tyres... Have a look what I found in me search for GREAT Serpent prices... Ellegi tyres, 10x 26mm for $52.35 and $61.76 for 30mm. Have a look at http://www.rccarinternational.com and have a look in the shop, and it is under serpent... For me, this is an ok price... works out to like ~$6 a pair... And they ship anywhere in the world for a reasonable amount... not bad at all.

Baxter I think you calculated it wrong. You get it for around 10 bucks a pair. 52.35+61.76=114.11 for 20 tires.
114.11 divide that by 10 which equals 11.41 a pair.
I get mine for 73.52(20 tires) divide by 10 equals 7.35 a pair
Hey thats still a good price for online. I havent seen a place cheaper than that online. Ill stick to my lhs prices
Now all I need is to find those Opel Astra DTM bodies

Next time when I go back to HK, I will bring a empty luggage and stock the whole luggage with Protoform bodies (like $7-8 each), Foam tires (like $8 a pair) and Nova Rossi Engine like JP and NovaMAX (40% cheaper then state)...............and ebay them.
Then, I will quit my job and go back and forth between here and Asia once every 2 weeks as carieer...........
Who said you cannot have fun while you work....?
P.S. yes BaxterC, I think your calculation is wrong....10x26mm means 5 pairs only (not 5 sets of 4) = 10.00 plus each pair. That is a OK price....and you can do the same if you order from rcmodel.com.....beside, 45 shores front and 37 shores rear might not be a good idea for S710....we can use some 37 shore FRONT and 40 shore rear to bring those UNDERSTEERING back.
