Hey guys my name is Chad as you can tell by my post count I'm new here.

I've been out of the hobby around 6-7 years and have gotten rid of

EVERYTHING. I really wanna start racing 1/8th scale (Toledo, OH) and I think

I want to go with the 966. Reading this entire thread I can see I need a lot of

things, lol thats an under statement. So I have from now until the spring to

get everything I need.

So starting from scratch give me some opinions on what you think I should

pick up. Here's a list I've come up with :

-Serpent 966
-Novarossi 35 plus 21 OR Picco P7 EVO3 (what do you think???)
-Spectrum DX3R radio
-(2) High speed servos ??? not sure what to look at here
-Body- was considering XCEED ZYTEC
-Hudy all-in-one set up station
-Starter box- not sure which one. (Does Serpent still make them?)
-Reciever Battery - again not sure which one
-Tools- I saw Hudy made a Tool kit for 1/8 scale any good?
-Pit box or tool box

Mr Cobra
I raced the 966 this season at Toledo after switching brands last winter - very pleased with performance, setup chioces, and parts support through Serpent America, feel that your potential car choice is spot on. On your other ??? the items I have concrete opinions on are to go with the Nova motor , good choice on the Spektrum radio , I've just swithced to Spektrum servos and so far very good , body consider Protoform 909 at this moment but by spring there will be new choices.

I like the Nova 35 plus 21
Kopropo ex-1 UR because it's light and fast
Servos futaba 9452 fast and accurate ..best value for money
Hudy all-in-one setup is a must
OFNA 10256 starter box...very strong
Exceed tools...economical(less than HUdy) with similiar quality

Car: 966, great choice.

If you plan to race a lot; you will want an excellent tire truer. I think the Hudy automatic truer is worth every penny... I've had mine for 5 seasons and love it.

reciever battery: Xceed lipo; you may need the brass battery tray too, and Xceed regulator

Engine: you may want to consider the novarossi kangaroo; a little less painful on the wallet and good power and reliability.

Pipe: NR 2015, I use the medium header; but not sure what's recommended for the Toledo track...

Servos: JR z9100S

Bodies: Xceed Zytec; I plan to try out the Blitz bodies next season.

Starterbox: Mugen

Tools: I have Hudy tools; but the Serpent orange handles are sweet and they won't roll off the bench.

Tires: John's BSR tires

Bearings: Boca bearings

Fuel: Byron's, tried it for the first time at the 2010 GLC, I'll use it next season.

Hope this helps.

does anyone had a difficulty to make correct front width with all 3mm shims out and upper arm in the outer position?
i must grid the upper arm and the pivot ball to make room for correct camber?
