Default 07 960 parts on 966?

other than the chassis and rear end bits, are the rest of the 07 960 parts usable on the 966?

Front end is also different.
Front of 966 is the same as the 960 '08....

Questions??

If anyone's got a set of calipers handy and some free time, could I get measurements for:

-distance from one end of the lower rear arm to the other while mounted to the chassis. If you're looking at the rear of the car with the wheels off, measure from the outer end of one rear arm to the other, excluding the pivot balls.

-distance between the pivot balls as they are mounted to the rear arms. I need this measurement to see if 966 uprights will fit 950 arms

-upper rear arm length (ballpark figure as I know everyone's setups will vary), hingepin diameter, and width of the hingepin side of the arm where it mounts to the bulkhead.

I'm trying to Frankenstein my 950R to enable the use of OS2 wheels out back (looks like I just need to change the front axles since I'm already using the 966 uprights up there), so these measurements would be appreciated before I plunk down the cash on the parts

I know I should just get a 966, but it'd be pretty cool if I could get this to work!

Questions??

Sup guys..
A quick question for you 966 owners.. Did Serpent have a 1/8 Nitro On Road that had a metal upper plate? A guy at work had brought this Nitro in a few nights back and said he wanted $100 for it. Has a NovaRossi 21 non pull start motor, pipe, its got 3 belts, looks just like the 1/8 966 on their website right now only its got a metal top plate. The throttle servo is mounted on the top, steering servo is mounted upside down on the bottom of the upper plate.

Its definitely 1/8! Like I said it looks exactly like the 966 on their website, current car only from the looks of the manual on line some of the parts have changed but are pretty much in the same place as whats on the car I have here now. I'll snap some pictures over the weekend and get them posted..

Any help would be great...

Hey Chris! I keep running in to you all over the internet!

What color was the upper plate? The Excel (9000) had a purple upper plate, the Sprint (6000) had a silver/gray one. I don't think any since then have had metal upper plates. The Vector, Vetec, 950 etc all had carbon upper plates.

Does the car run? Pretty much if it does, or is at least complete, it is worth $100. Would love to see some pictures of it to positively identify it.

No matter what version that is...must be very OLD. Definitely pre-Vector period, that is easily 15+ years old. My concern is....if you are going to run it, and break something, you will have a very hard time to find parts to replace it.

Unless you want to buy that as a "collection"...then it is worth to find out WHICH Serpent that is. There are only a few of serpent that worth to collect. I myself got a brand new never ran Veteq V1 and V2 for $250 back on ebay awhile back. Now they are on my shelf and will never plan to run it simply because it is one heck of a design in RC industry..piece of history.

Just a quick question. Do any of you have any issues with the front arms? More so the holes that the shock screws go through? Any issues with that hole breaking out?

Thanks.
