i am actually in the process of upgrading my original 960 to not-so-full 08 spec and most likely sometime in the mid season i'll convert it to the 966 spec.

upgrading to the 08 spec, you have a choice of either OS1 or OS2. OS1 uses Serpent wheels, and OS2 uses Mugen/Kyosho wheels.

from what i've read so far, the chassis is not necessary to get the 08 spec, when it's time for me to do the 966 conversion, the 966 chassis is part of the conversion kit.

hopefully my explaination is clear, if you need a list of parts for converting your original 960 to the 08 spec, let me know and i can list them out for you.
And don't forget to upgrade to the V2 break system!

Or actually you need:

and
http://www.serpent.com/product/903281/
Because in the kit a new retainer is supplied, based on the V2 brake system.

Default 966 std flywheel size

Hi guys, i just got my 966 kit last few week and when i assemble the clutch it came with a 38mm flywheel. It should be a 36mm flywheel right due to the LCG engine mount being used... What the size of the flywheel u guys getting in the new kit?? thanks...

one more thing, i used to setup my clutch with brown shoe with 0.7/0.8 gap and tension starting form 1.2mm and with screws in the weight.
What gap and tension u guys run with the red shoe?? the new clutch went to dust with the stock setup?? wonder why?? any possibility the new clutch was warp??
i put in my old clutch set from my 08 everything went fine.

thanks

The 960'08 kit also had a LCG chassis and engine mount, and also came with a 38mm flywheel, I upgrade to the 966, so don't know what flywheel needs to be in the kit, but I can assure you that the 38mm will work perfectly.

The Zytec has more steering yet its stable in the back. The body is just a lot more stable. You really have to drive one to see the difference, it cant be descrived. The first time I tried the Zytec I went "Oh my god!!!", its that good.

The major advantage of the Zytec body over Central Lola is the availability, ZYTEC is available while the Central Lola is not (have been discontinued in the US)

It solves a lot of set-up concerns. I had a midhigh speed push that would never go away with whatever set-up i tried. Put the Zytec on and it fixed that problem it was night and day better than R12, R11, Blitz

Yes, the Serpent team have tried the ZYTEC on their 966 and some experience a slight push on the other body, the ZYTEC is more agile but still stable if compared to the other body, some like the ZYTEC, some don't, I guess it depends on the driving style.
