Get one and you'll never look back. A great car with excellent parts support.Out on the west coast you have Kamikaze toys and hobbies with great parts and techniocal support.
Strong, durable and cost effective to run. We've had ours for 3 yrs and just recently upgraded it to the TE. LOVE thiscar!!!!

Default New 966

Hey guys,

Just finished our build of the 966TE, WOW what a sweet piece of engineering this baby is. Easy build, almost no hassles and NO missing parts

Have a few minor questions on set-up though.
What seems to be the preferences on the following ...

Where do most guys run the Front Top Arm? IN or OUT,
Also the shims under Front Top Arm?
I remember a set-up on here somewhere suggesting running different thickness shims front and back? (Almost like Anti dive, but on the Upper Arm)
Also Rear Lower Roll Center; Top, Botttom or Anti Squat?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions,
Looking foward to getting this baby on the track and getting it Dialled...

Hi Warren, i see you Failed to keep the kit away from Ryan ? haha.
on setup, seemed rear middle insert for lower roll center was a good start. as far as front arms, i used inner position, and ran it as per the build to start with, and to be honest, i didnt have reason to change it . the car had ample steering and rear grip was great. id highly suggest the front alloy swaybar holder set 903359 , will have hassle free racing after that. Hope Ryan likes the car, im sure he will do well with it, but its almost a shame to put it on track, they look amazing ! haha

[QUOTE=Pattojnr;9902653]Hi Warren, i see you Failed to keep the kit away from Ryan ? haha.

YEAH... Didn't stand a chance

Thanks for the tips, actually I think it may have been you Paul that mentioned a set-up change regarding the front Upper Arm shims.. Something about a thicker shim at the rear?????

We have the Alloy front sway bar holder already.. and have also fitted the SOFT front swaybar.

Also I notice the old car had the Blade Style REAR roll bar, but has now changed to the wire style. Any reason for this. We have found in the past that the Blade style seemed to work a little better on bumpy tracks at least. Can the Blade style still be fitted to the TE chassis ?

Thanks again.

Default 966 Body

Also, can anyone give me a measurement please from front of Plastic Bumper to shell thanks. Will mount the shell next week. I take it the Protoform P909 is the shell of choice at the moment. Ryan likes a ton of steering

with the old car i ran 1mm angled top front arm. i havent had a reason to do so yet on the TE. i have found that the wire bar setup is more consistant. the rear blade type i have had a few incidents bend the blade, enough to tweak the hole thing. so for me i will stick to the wire type. cant help with the P909, i run the blitz bodies, R11 or R09.

Warren, I think me and Ric is running 2mm fr and 1mm rr on the top bracket. I have try anti-squat at Lilydale but didnt like it.

if Ryan like tons of steering then PF15B is what he need, I mount my 909 15mm from the bumper which I found is understeer a bit so next time I will try 20mm

20mm for the 909. The R15 and R11 have the dimples for mounting of the 966. Enjoy

Default Front WOS Knuckles

Thanks for the heads up on the shells guys.

We have also fitted the front Wide Off-set steering Knuckles.
Going on past experiences this should increase over-all steering Have you guys found the same with this car... ??also with these steering knuckles what is every-one running the front track width at and are you shimming the same as kit ?

Thanks again.
