Hi Gordo,

I know... a buddy's vector is still running on its original 1-way bearing. That is what is so frustrating. I have no idea what could be the problem. That said, it is my first 1/8 and therefore could be just a user problem... am no way saying that quality of serpent parts are bad.

In any case, I have rebuilt the whole of my 2-speed assembly, and for now, everything seems to be okay.

With regards to regular maintenance... I used to maintain it before every outing... but am now trying what others have suggested, i.e. not maintaining it so regularly... so now i just take it out every now and then to make sure that its not running bone-dry.

I definitely hope this set lasts, cos if it doesnt, I do not know what else to do/try.

Hi Vones,

After the race, i tried to figure out what the problem could be.

I took out the 2-speed unit... tried to pull the 2 halves apart... took ALOT of strength to do so.

So I first screwed both shift-point screws all the way in... it was 3 3/4 turns... then took the whole assembly apart... gave it a light cleaning, and put it all back together with the same 3 3/4 turn setting... tested it by pulling the 2 halves apart, and it took significantly less effort than before.

this gives me the impression that something was causing the 2 springs to be 'stuck' (for lack of a better term).

Will take note of the 2-speed housing's thickness. Thanks for sharing.

i believe there're 2 different 2speed springs: silver and black...latest ones are black. older ones are silver. maybe something to ponder upon?

You guys over at Kamikaze run a nice little buisness, you should try getting with some to make a perminate 1/8th On-Road track for SoCal. The day that happens I will be in your store buying an On-Road Kit.

On regular club race is about 40 to 50 racers (also depends of what time of the year), and club race is held every 2nd and 4th weekend of the month (weekend means Saturday Practice and Sunday race)

Since April 7 to April 17 is the 1/8 on road worlds, the attendance might be a little light on April 9/10

Hey man your car handled good, you just need to get use to the speed. You should come down and do some practice with us on a not so busy day. Sorry I didn't get to help you, trying to run two class is tough. You have my number so call me anytime with any questions.

PS.......I got some old Hudy setup gauges but I don't have a toe slide for it. You can have it if you can find a toe gauge.
