"The Gulf Coast Raceway is undergoing a major upgrade in track surface in preparations for having been awarded the IFMAR 2010 Nitro Sedan Worlds. A new track surface will be unveiled in 2009. As soon as the dates are firm on the reopening of the track I’ll post dates for the 2009 GULF COAST Grand Prix.
Meanwhile, the Off-Road facilities at Gulf Coast Raceway remains open for your enjoyment."

With the new track arrangements will the track surface be larger? Also will the driver stand be further away from the track? Looking foward to this one.... Going to a World event must be so cool.

DJ - We do not have any plans for relocation of the drivers stand. As you remember from the Nationals, it is a permanent structure. As for the surface to be covered, the plans call for maximizing the space and that may allow us to increase the sq. footage. We won't really know until the contractor has their say.

Leisure Hours has not confirmed any dates for the 09 season except the 2009 ROAR Fuel Off Road National's hosted July 16th - 19th, 2009. We plan on announcing other events first part of January 2009.

I was not sure if it could be moved or if you could move the track further away from the stand. I remember hearing about the tree being cut on the other side of the track. I just remember it was hard to see the right side of the track depending what position you got on the driver stand. Thanks for the reply though. Good luck with the renovations.

The 4th annual US Open Championships presented by Kissimmee RC Raceway will feature sedan and 1/8 scale classes this year, along with the GT Inferno class.
We are moving back to the latter part of the year. The race dates are December 3rd - 6th 2009. This will be our permanent date, from this point on. The main sponsor and sponsor of the open class will be Kyosho.
