Most people don't warranty racing motors at all.

Well..... it is a normal commercial product which is sold by specialists but also toyshops and within in Europe such products must have a some kind of warranty. You are a fool if you do not even try it, for sure in a such situation.

With a Pico engine I did it once and Picco was no problem but for the distributor it was and so from that moment on no Picco for me.....

Like wingracer said... Dont think most manufacturers offer warranty. They cant figure out if it was a mistake on your part or a problem in manufacturing. How will they know if it was not you that went WOT with a very lean HSN?

I once returned an Axe Rossi Pixie 12. I had to ship it back to the factory in Italy. I never broke-in the engine because everytime I tried to put a flywheel on the engine the crank would seize up(tried multiple collets). there was a problem with either the front bearing or crankcase. I got the engine back in about a month with a new updated carb.
You would be amazed how much stuff manufactures will warranty items. I've return JR servos after 2 1/2 years of use (JR servos come with 3 year warranty). Hitec is another one. I sent my CRX radio transmitter in for repair because my kids twisted the steering wheel off. They did NOT repair it. They sent me a brand new transmitter with free shipping. Next time a product fails; contact the manufacture; you never know what might happen.

Pass you soon.

Well, DO NOT EVER TRY TO SEND ANYTHING BACK TO NOVAROSSI!!! I got a brand new engine, started to break it in and when I FIRST rolled it over, it wedged with an awful noise. (piston stuck in the sleeve) I took the head off and looked into the sleeve, there was a small chunk of metal in the cylinder that got stuck between the piston and wall of the sleeve. I opened the back plate and found 3 more metal shavings. I was unable to remove the sleeve because it was stuck so tight, so I contacted Novarossi and shipped the engine back to them. that was 2 1/2 years ago. The only thing that I ever got from them was an email that said "impossible, our engines don't even have dust in the them"! I never got my engine back, it was an RR12L3. So now, I take very engine apart before I break it in and inspect it with a jewlers loop before I break it in. I have only found 2 engines since with metal particles in them, but Novarossi is right, "they don't even have dust in them"...they have metal!

Servos are very different from Engines. Many manufacturers do warranty servos, but that doesnt mean they do with engines. The case you describe with the Axe is understandable, but again, you never broke it in. The engine never saw fuel in it.

With as many engines that they sell, they claim a guarentee... I just wish that the money I spend on the engine was refunded or at least they could have replaced it, but they didn't even send it back. That is what burned me with Novarossi.

Yes, you are correct. Since this engine never saw any fuel I guess they had no choice. The one thing I failed to tell them; I was not the original owner. I bought the engine second hand brand new. I did take the engine apart the problem was somewhere in the front bearing area. It seems the collet would grab the crankshaft but it would try to pull the shaft out of the engine. Either the front bearing was the wrong depth or the crankcase was not milled right
either way I was lucky that Axe Rossi repaired it at no charge. I do consider myself lucky.

I feel your pain Rcfoolz.... By the way I'm still using that modified Top deck and battery plate you sent me. thanks a million.

Within Europe on every comercial available product there has to be a warranty, for a lot of (electronic) products there is even a list from the EC of suspected lifespan which is mostly more than the 1 year standard factory warranty.

In Holland warranty is something between you and the seller so it is for the best you buy stuff at the official reseller/dealer. In case of warranty they must accept the product and handle the warranty for you. They can try to send you directly to the factory (which is sometimes better) but if you want to handle it by them they have to do it.

In case of these engines. It is very clear to see if the engine is abused or not or how long has it runned. The oilcontent inside, the color of the piston and burnroom, serial number and ofcourse scratches on the outside.

hmm, I always thought that race engines were guaranteed for 30 sec or 30 feet. Whichever came first. LOL

That is what a lot of resellers and factories want you to believe. My Picco was refused by the Benelux distributor in the same way, it was "a high precision and well produced racing machine and because you race with it there is no warranty". Yeah right.... so the guy arround the corner who bought it as a toy to drive for fun on the 200 meter street on full throttle with 50.000+ rpm gets its warranty because he is not racing it

that is bad... coz racers usually take more care of their engine... 200m straight is for high speed record... ... can the fella see his car???
