Default new TC3 starter box problems

hey guys,
yesterday the guy at the local hobby shop convinced me that i needed a starter box. so i bought a brand new Team Associated starter box.today i went to try it out.i hooked it to my car battery just like it said, put my car on it and pushed down and it wouldnt even turn the motor over.so i looked under car to make sure the flywheel on starter was hitting the flywheel on car, everything looked good so i pushed down again and the motor on starter just started pouring smooke out.i pull started my engine and drove my car around for a while and tried it again with same result.what am i doing wrong?

thanks in advance BUDRACER1

I had the exact same thing happen to me. Either the wheel is rubbing the starter box case or it's rubbing the chassis. Both are enough to smoke that weak ass motor. I had to buy a new motor for $40!

get the ofna box. its a knock off of the tc3 box but has an on-off switch, the bump out on the side is much smaller, has more torque and and abec 5 bearing. it also comes with plugs/clips to run it off of 12v.

its awesome. i love mine

I had the same problem with my AE starter box while trying to run my Os Tr in. Everytime i used it, it continued to emit smoke until it eventually stopped and melted the tamyia plugs from getting so hot....

Apart from that they are a great starter box.
