What is the best starter box for NTC3
I'm have a problem finding a light weight starter box for the NTC3 that allows me to use the 12v gell cell installed inside the box.
I am looking for one that uses the 12v and has the power panel for the glow starter.

Well, it's not gonna be lightweight with the 12v battery. Whatever you do, DO NOT get the AE starter box. Myself as well as others have burnt out the motor in less than a month. A new motor costs $40(box costs 65). I'm not sure if the Ofna stainless box uses the same motor. I know its the same size and may be a bit better quality. I have the Ofna pink box with the big 12v motor. It was cheaper than the AE one and more power and you can add a power panel if you want to. It also has the bracket to mount the 12v battery.

hm...
i have never heard of some one buring the motor
unless u run 2 stick packs and try to start a really tight motor and just let it get stuck

I was using a 12v battery and was starting a motor that was already broken in. Makes you wonder why my LHS has tons of spare motors in stock for the AE one. All the guys I talked to with the AE box had the exact same thing happen. The motor literally started smoking! One of AE gimmicks to get you to buy more of their stuff Kinda like the NTC3 and it's worthless light duty front one way.

wells
the ae box seems to be pretty reliable to me
i mean, i'm using my friends one for now
and it works just fine
and i even broke in my motor on it
and if the motor died im sure he would of told me, and he never orders spare motors(hes a buyer at my LHS)

My AE starter box already 8 months old and is still very good condition (touch wood). So far I haven't heard any motor burnt cases.

Been using my AE box with 3000 packs all season and it works great starting my NTC3 and others at the track.
I did find that you need to be very carful in lining up the freewheel and starter wheel. If you are just a little off and the starter wheel contacts the NTC3's chassis even a little will strain the motor and cause it to overheat.

The lightest starter is a hand held bump starter attached to your automobile's battery.
Look to Ofna, they have a variety o boxes that may fit your needs.

Since last year,we've been running 10 tc3's..and 10 AE starter boxes....
NO burnt motors in any of them......And they were all used to break in RB motor's..
My box, between 2 tc3's,has well over 4 gallons worth of starts...
and FYI,I've never broken a gear either..

Personal Experience
Personally mine AE box works great. However, last weekend I watched a guy "smoke" a brand new on by just hooking it to his car battery. The smoke just came right out of the motor.

You see the same thing in electric racing. Something jams the motor while the power is on and releases the smoke.
Same thing with the starter box except that the switch allows "FULL" power to the motor. So if the motor is stopped because the wheel is hitting the chassis or trying to turn over a tight engine it can burn out "ANY" electric motor not only the AE one.
