G-Day From Oz. I posted here not long back and thought I would share what I have been doing. My first step was replacing the shocks, I had a set of nice Xray alloy shocks with adjustable pistons and white springs which are slightly longer. I had the alloy threaded Associated ones but they leaked and the Xray shocks feel smoother and helped the car stick on the track but I still lacked traction. The setup is standard except for max castor, rear shocks leaned inwards at top, 1.mm spacer under rear upper outer link, 6mm ride height with around 4mm droop rear and 2mm at front. I then fitted an old set of Takeoff 27s and bingo traction problem solved, the car went from sliding badly to sticking like dung on a blanket but pulled to the right on power.
About 2 1/2 years back I ran an NTC3 with OS12TR, it was fast but I always had trouble with it pulling to the right under power, and I still have the same problem. I thought it was the slop in the rack which I have eliminated as much as possible but the problem persists. So I recheck all arms for freeness and shocks for length etc and even put 30 grams extra on the battery side but still it pulls to the right. Another guy at our track runs a well optioned NTC3 with K-Factory chassis and extra brace etc and it drives straight so what is it ? simply tweak or torque steer or what ?
I have ordered the Team Blue Star chassis and aluminium steering arms along with bearings for the steering rack, stiffer clutch springs and a few other spares. I am hoping to get rid of the pulling to right problem and hope I am on the right track. Sorry about the long post, any advice on my one major glitch would be appreciated. P.S the car kicked butt at our last meeting but just makes it awkward when it won't go dead straight.
