Default Maybe there is a cheaper alternative..

I was looking through the K-factory website they show a 3 shoe clutch(30 mm Standard and SG)that includes the hardened clutch shoes and new engine mounts. This should be a little more efficient without the hassle of having to maintain it more compared to a centax.

Looks like a fancier version of the AE 3-shoe. What do they mean by "hardened shoes"? Are they aluminum? How much is it? I got my first Centax for $85., and my second for $75.. Both off Ebay.

Thank you everyone for the very good info. I think I will try the 3 shoe first with the modifications and then the centex

Kawahara Centax: I just removed the cap screw today to regrease my thrust bearing and noticed that the little balls in the thrust bearing(center plate) fell off when removing the thrust race that resides over it. Is this okay? It sure makes it hard to remove from the engine if you gotta worry losing those little balls.

Can another company's thrust bearing be used? Like the Mugen t.b.?

Thanks

Your thrust bearing is shot, need to replace asap. Think that the trust bearing is quite standard and if you don't find the kawahara one, maybe Serpent, mugen or other manufacturer with the same measure can serve too well.

Thrust bearing need to be greased accordingly every few time (on my 1/8 i grease every heat).

The little balls look alright. So the thrust bearing balls are supposed to stay in the retainer? Cuz I was able to place them back in and they roll around in the "retainer"(sorry for the ignorance, not too much experience with the Centax).

the balls are supposed to stay in the retainer. but if you got
it back in i guess it will work for the meen time. I recomend
getting a new one the mugen thrust bearing should work
if you can't find the kawahara thrust bearing.

Any brand of thrust bearing would be fine. You just need to get the same size as the original one.

I suggest you go to any bearing shops around your area and bring along your thrust bearing for them to measure it. I don't know if the thrust bearing in the Kawahara Centax comes in metric or in imperial measurements.

I don't think the Mugen ones fit unless they are of the same size.

ME Student: You can read Japanese? I wish I could. I did the whole install process just by the pictures and not understanding why they should be gapped the way they are or placed the way they are. I know on the manual they mention "Mugen B0308", I thought that was thrust bearing but it actually is Mugen's Super Grease.

If it's a 5x10 thrust bearing, then I could use the Mugen version.

Forgot to mention, love the Centax! Learning as I go, but wow, what torque it provides.

I'm pretty sure the Mugen will work also. It looks exactly the same as the thrust bearing on my old MRX-3.

Mugen thrust bearing fits perfectly. Thanks guys. Now it's time for some track time and see how it holds up. Also bought BRP's 0.78 rear sway bar, we'll see how that goes.
