Foam Tire Recommendations
 

I am looking at switching from rubber to foams for racing and wanted to get some advice on 2 brands GQ and Jaco Prism. Out local track is now a road coarse that has been converted from oval and is on a parking lot surface. My car NTC3 had been running well using an Oval setup from RC Foolz but this new road course set-up has made the car squirrley adding throttle coming out of the turns. I have been running 26mm soft rubber tires all around but think it's time to add more width to the back or all around and some nice soft foams to aid with grip.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated on set-up and tires. Also what do you guys thing about the GQ and also the Jaco Prism tires? Not sure what the Pink, Orange and Magenta means relative to the Jaco's.

GQ has a very strong wheel, great for the boards of a parking lot track. I think Jaco has better rubber though. The color designations are for tires usually used on carpet. You want Nitro rubber. Look for Jaco's with number designations like 37 or 42. For parking lot racing I would start with 37's all around but be careful. Front rubber and rear rubber is different even though they may have the same shore rating. Make sure you have 37 fronts on the front and 37 rears on the rear.

The numbers indicate shore rating (hardness) of the foam. Low numbers are softer, high numbers are harder.

Thanks. How about width recommendations? Should I go 30 mm rear and 26mm front or 28mm all around?

30mm rears if they fit.

No, the 30mm only comes in rear compounds and will mostlikely make your car spin out or very hard to drive.....

Think I will order some GQ tires. A guy ran those on a NTC3 yesterday and hooked up well at the the track.

What about suspension set-ups with a wider rear tire and running a road course?

If you have an interest in another brand of nitro TC tires I would urge you to look at BSR tires. You can order them from Winner Circle RC for $9.50 a pair. For the surface you are racing I would recomend BSR3038 or 3035 for the rear and BSR2640 or 2642 for the front. These are great quality tires and at a cheep price.

Is the BSR foam good about not chunking since I'm running in a parling lot? Also I have spun out in the turn b4 and gotten t-boned and damaged wheels. Are their rims stong? Thanks for the input

The NTC3 is a shaft driven car, so that means it is a 1:1 drive ratio front to rear. When running that, I always ran the same shore front and rear. i would start with 38 jaco tires all around and get a set of 40's in case you may need them. When running the NTC3, try running a small split of about 1mm smaller tire in the front.

Thanks RC Foolz. I used your oval setup from Easly which worked fine until they changed the track. Do you have any road course setup? Not sure if you ran the Easley road course when you were there or just the oval.
