not necessarily....0.8 gives you much ratio options and is "supposed" to be more efficent. However, in terms of durability and criticality of gear meshing.... 1.0 pitch wins hands down.

Macnkitty2002,No I'm not the only one w/an rc out here,we got 2 lhs out here. They mostly drag race over here w/funny cars and stuff.one of the local dragers took second place in the winter finaly in s.florida last year so we get around. The parts I can't get here I order them from tower H & NH.
Also Havy I got peeps in bayamon & cauguas & vieques so next time i'm out that way i'll link up w/you to check out the tracks over their. I got a backyard setup track,it's two full and a half tennis courts that setup for circuit race. It's got aprox.135ft of straight and like 80ft wide. The car hooks pretty well for howit's setup I wanna try it on a bigger track and see how it dose... more fire

hopefuly you took the tennis nets down before you established the track. but you are lucky to have one too. i use my electric 1/10 on the tennis courts near my house in the winter since nobody uses them. and you are right, they do hook up well.

Default SETUP

I am having trouble setting up my two LD3... Just a little back ground. I have a Tangerine pro and the reg 2sp ld3 with a CD3 conversion on the way. I also have a rs4 3 for bashing..

my ld3 have a mills os .12 tr and RB .12.

need help selecting gearing on the pinon and two speed spur gear. Also setting up the Camber, caster and toe for front and read. I recenlty purchased a setup station... Prior to this I was eyeballing.. and way off.

ALL help would be appreciated....

Hey check back a couple of pages,

But my basic rundown:

front:
Caster: I have the upper arms all the way forward, no shims in front.
0 toe
2 deg camber

Rear:
1-1.5 deg toe
4 deg camber R, 4.5 deg L

Front diff, 120,000 Ofna wght, 6 gear
Rear diff, 50,000 Ofna wght, 4 gear

Front king pin mount 0 and 0
Rear 1.5 and 0 antisquat

Gearing stock

Fun, yes, handles loose but holds well when asked too

Default Thanks

I have read most of the thread... Just trying to get a feel for the tuning. I picked up a setup system. I tell you, my eye it method was sad.

Over the past few months I have just been practicing with the car, I was finding I was fighting it all over the track. So I tried some basic chassis setup and things got better.

I appreciate your response.

Hey the stock 3 shoe clutch is good for beginers like me. However my Tangerine LD3 with the centax is going to be a blast to drive.

Is it worth changing the 3 shoe on my rtr ld3 to a centax. I read back a little the mugen will fit. If I read this correct which versions will accept the ld3 gearing.

I plan to upgrade to 0.8 gearing so centax will be needed. I got to learn to set it up correctly though. The three shoe clutch has been reliable, I just set the idel on the motor to get the response I would like out of the turns (within reasonable limits, don't want to keep the revs up too long in idle).

Soo, I let someone esle tell you about the mugen centax.

I tell you... I have searched HI an LO for a good forum on LD3's. I have been out of RC for about 10 years and was bitten by the buy. Now I own three nitros and 2 ld3 with a cd3 conversion kit on the way and a bashing rs4 ss...

I have read most of the forum mail and have learned a lot without having to sift through a lot of junk...

MY RTR now has a os .12 tr and the tangerine a RB x12. My next major upgrade will be a decent radio system.. Looking at a KO mars R gold edition...
