Heya..

I purchased a novarossi cx12 new,
run it in as directed from the shop... And am on the 12th tank of fuel..

The motor i cannot stop running very hot. I have no temp gun, but a quick spit test is insane, the heat dries it instantly :/

I have main needle screwed 5 1/2 turns out, low speed 2 1/2 from flush with carb, at these mixutes, the car runs, ok, dies on instant full throtle, but slowly acclerates to top speed fine.
Lean the mixtue in to try increase take off, and one hit up the straight and back, spit test the motor and ack! hot as :/.
Ive leaned both in as far as another 1/2 turn in, before im to scared it'll cook, but leaves accelaration really poor.

Ive tried angled air filters so the head has much better air cooling, limiting carb opening at full throtle, and 15/20% nitro with no luck :/ Its runnning a fox plug as well.

Any ideas anyone ?

I followed THIS at first , car starts fine, runs at low rpm fine, boot it, and it dies

I have a force12 and 2 os max motors, both are a sinch to tune :/ Just at a loss again as to what ive done wrong, or havent done even.

try 4 1/2 on top,and richen to 3 1/2 on bottom..get the engine warm,then boot it....

yep, am upto 6 out on top now :/ still runs hot as a mofo spit on the crankcase it'll boil till dry.
Bottom is 3 1/2 out, havent changed it.

Changed glow plugs to a longer plug, and then to 0S #8 :/ Longer plug runs the motor better lean, great punch, and top end speed, is just hot as hell. :/ i have no temp gauge, but the water will boil like its hit a hot plate of your stove :/ the force12 and OS never got this hot, only once, and that one has a new sleeve/piston due to that :0

Any plug you'd recommend ? I dont have a manual, and novarossi.com aint been up in 3 weeks for me

EVOLUTION

Try a novarossi c4s glow plug,reset the needles and give it a go.

The long shank glow stick i found in a box of bits in the room, its unmarked of its maker, but will match it against the ones at the shop over the weekend. runs 100% better on this plug.

Soooo, i now have my needle settings as follows.

TSN = 4 1/2 turns out
LSN = 2 turns in from flush

This gives me sluggy preformance for 2/3 minutes till the motors warm, the wahey, shes off!
Will play with the LSN again when i get more fuel, as a few slight turns to lean should fix the sluggyness at startup fine

Tis abit off from recommended settings i found.
TSN = 4 turns out
LSN - 3 1/2 in from flush
