If racing with Foams then use 4mm, unless you race on a low grip surface then use 3mm.
If racing with Rubber then only 3mm chassis and soft springs.

Default Upgrades

Hey guys,

So the storey is that I have taken the plunge to purchase a OS .12 TZ and purchased a bunch of parts also and realised some of the parts I purchased was for the FW-06 and was told by the seller that they wont fit?

3 Racing Graphite Radio Tray For Kyosho FW06
3 Racing Servo Mount For FW06
3 Racing Aluminum Main Chassis For Kyosho FW05R
3 Racing Aluminum One Way Hub For FW05R

Can anyone here confirm this is true?

Cheers,
Pete

Can you give me the part numbers...I bought the radio tray and chassis from 3Racign and used them on my FW05 RR with no problem. From just eyeballing Pictures...the servo mounts look the same as well...just blue.

Thanks Kyo83,

The carbon upper chassis part number is FW06-11 and the servo mounts are FW06-15.

I have been told directly from 3-racing that the part would not suit the fw-05t but on rcmart a user left a comment that he purchased the same part for his fw-05t and suprisingly fitted.

I have eyeballed both parts from 3-racing and the only differeance is the additional battery/reciever plate.

Cheers,
Pete

Look again the the carbon radio tray for the FW05 has extending arms on the front.

You need to get this: FW05-RR004 or FW05-RR004A
or this

again, the server mounts look the same except for color but if you want to be sure get these:FW05-023 and FW05-023A

Those radio trays are for the FW05RR model, the R model is the same except for the front extended arms

NiMo is on top of this car... he ran it for a looong time with great success.

psykosonik,

I know you asked what the differences are in a couple places... but I'll answer here because of the pics of the radio tray.

Here goes... I'll try to give you the major things... off the top of my head.

05S to 05T, engine change (now slide carb) 2speed, and brake hub.
05T to 05T+, rear suspension (same as 05RR minus CF parts)
05T+ to 06, front shock tower, radio tray, fuel tank.
looks like to convert a T+ to an 06 you need

VS111 front shock tower
VS112 radio tray with servo mounts
VS113 fuel tank
mis hardware
I don't think you can change the tank without the radio tray

The radio tray pictured is for an RR and requires other parts... VS037 (I think...maybe more)

The radio trays between all the others should swap out.

Thanks for the insight...I thought the main different between the the FW05 R and RR was the rear setup.....learned something new today.

RR had extra fixing points at the front to stiffen it for Foam use, I actually chopped them off again as it made me slower, and made taking the radio tray off a much bigger job as you had to separate the front diff housing each time.
Best way to strengthen front was to run longer bolts through the bottom of the diff centre shaft output and then use nuts to secure deck.
(make sure bolts do not touch steering rack)
Samer trick could also be done at rear.

I may rebuild my FW05 one of these days, and fit the 4-stroke conversion i have for it.

Still the best IC car I ever had, just a shame the National series went to Foam, as the FW05 worked better than the belt cars on Rubber.

Thanks Guys,

Your help has made my day!

I will change the subject on the other thread with progress of the conversion.

I'll wait till the parts I have orderd to arrive, then look at the other parts Kyo83 mentioned.

NiMo - what is the 4-stroke conversion? I tried to google it.

The project that got put on hold, cos my local club refused to allow any motor over a .12 race or .18 pull start.

My FW05R before Foam Tyres and High Cost took over.
This was before 2.4Ghz was thought of and used in RC racing
