Gordon, if you are going to get into nitro touring to try it out at first, I would prolly recommend getting a NTC3 RTR+ For like 300$ or so you can be running and get a feel for if this is your thing. the RTR+ is surprisingly good once you spend some time setting it up. I saw some drivers last summer tear it up with one of them.

If you want to dive in with a full race ready car you are looking at a 600 - 800$ purchace. I am between 650 and 700$ into the car in the pics above sans radio hardware.

And no the track width on the car is 200mm all around, I just had it set funny on the setup board. I actually havent done any alignment or track width settings on the car yet.

When i look at my old 2-degree-hub i come to the conclusion that it reduces the caster-effect (less camber while steering) on the outer wheel in a turn and increases the caster-effect (more camber) on the inner wheel. If the steering angle of both front-wheels would be the same (no ackermann) an you could turn like 90-degrees you would get 10 degrees camber on both wheels when caster is set to 10 degrees. Using an 2-degree-hub the outer wheel would end up with 8 dregrees while the inner wheel gets 12 degree. Because you cannot turn like 90-degree the effect is less but should be basically the same.

Default couple questions.

hey guys, i need some info on the springs for the fw. i have silver,black, gold, light blue, yellow, white, red, green and pink. could some body set me up with a spring lb chart or something? my other question is parts availabilty in the usa. i broke a rear arm mount last weekend and the shop says they are on back order. its the plastic parts tree with the rear tranny case on it. if some body could help it would be great!!! also some of the springs are different length long are white pink yellow and med blue. short are the light blue gold black red and green. thanks the hackmaster...

Had my first National of the year, it was a rubber tyred National at the Brookland Raceway.
Had a wee problem in Saturday practice, I couldn't get the car to turn in to the fast corners enough and felt like I was losing tons of time, but stiffening the front roll bar to a 55 degree angle gave me more turn in although it still was lacking that initial bite, also the times set others on Saturday made me feel very slow, hence a bad nights sleep with worries of being well of the pace.
Sunday came, I was seeded number 4 (46 entries) so it meant top heat.
Round 1 felt kinda average but posted me 2nd fastest.
Round 2 and the car was dialed but I read a loose car in front of me wrong and found myself on the grass so I aborted that run, it dropped me to 3rd.
Round 3 and I got on to the 15 lap pace but so did others, I'm now 6th.
Round 4 and a tweak with the rear camber (rear put to foam setting) allowed me to have a little more rear bite and was on the pace, a collision with a back marker on the last lap put me on my roof (still overtook him) so I lost time but ended up 4th fastest.
The Final started good for me, I got in to the lead and held it for 5 laps until a mistake under brakes pushed me wide on to the dirty stuff and dropped me to third, got back to 2nd through pit stops but ran a kerb too much and rolled on to the grass and this cut the motor, got going again but dropped to 6th, was slowly making up ground when at 19 minutes I lost rear drive, that's when I found that an FW05 is crap in front wheel drive mode, I struggled the remaining 11 minutes fearing the rear diff had stripped, finished in 6th and inspected the car, a rear dogbone had disappeared (well it was an original item, lasted 20 months).

Default what springs for rear ?


I just wanted to know what springs people use on medium traction tracks ?

I first ran my car with out of the box settings but 37shore tyres. The rear had no traction so i installed black front springs so i use the same springs all around now.

It now handles like a slot car with full traction around the corners and lots of steering. (rrr front hubs installed)

I ask this because the rear of the chassis under the engine mount area is scraping pretty bad. 5.5mm ride height all around.

Is this fine or should i go to a harder spring on the rear ?
