Is it just me, or does the R40 NOT come with JR Servo Horns?

You go with heavier diff fluids so that more power gets transferred from the tires to the ground. The looser the diff, more power bleeds off through the inner wheel that slips.

Heavier diff fluids when more traction is available on the track. Looser diff fluid when traction is little.

Thumbs up I made my choice

I finally decided to give HPI a chance with the R40. I saw that most users are pretty happy of it and that I can build a very nice one for around 400$ + motor. My local hobby store have tons of parts for it. So I am gonna give it a try...

One of the flaw I read about is weak pivot balls and plastic shocks.

1. I heard about titanium pivot balls, but can't find them. Anyone can help me here?

2. I heard about alloy shocks, but can't find them either?

3. Do you guys know if the new NSR12S3 is available somewhere? I saw it out of stock everywhere!

4. Is one of you guys ever tried an hex screw kit with the R40 like those http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...247592&rd=1 or others? Are they worth it? It's true that hex strip a lot less than normal screw...

5. Any other tips you don't want me to miss and know before assembling it? I am curently reading the R40 thread, but there's like 2500 message in it

Hello Frag,

Excellent choice on the car. You will love it.

First, will you be racing? Just wondering since theres so many tracks in Nor-Cal.

Take your time building the car. Read the instructions CAREFULLY. And most important of all, have fun.

i dont know if its fair to say the pivot balls are weak even though ive bent a few none have broken

and aluminum shocks arent a necessity ive been quite happy with the shocks and adding weight to a r40 is something that should be avoided if possible

a friend of mine has measure mugen mtx3 pivot balls for me and it seems they will work as a replacement for the hpi pivot balls after all (hpi 7.9mm mugen 7.88mm)

i think i may try to get the mugen titanium ones but will probably get some regular mugen ones for the front while i save the $90 for the titanium ones

the r40 is a great car last race locally it was mtx3 and r40 only in our A main

if the ball of the pivot ball is smaller they will work to finish a race for a weekend but the back side of the hubs the holes for the pivot ball to go through are big the hubs pop off if you tap the wall while turning and puts a crack in the hubs so watch out for that

GPM makes ti pivotballs for the R40 and they are a darn good price. Worth taking a look at anyways.

AMGRacer,

do you where to get those balls? Do you have a link? I found some GPM, but alloy, not titanium.
