HOW TO GET BETTER FUEL MILAGE 1/8 ON-ROAD

Hi guys, looking for things that you have done to get better milage.

I have a 7.5 restrictor in the carb. and running the lowest gear ratio. I backed off on my clutch spring. Running 25% fuel. Engine temp around 250 deg. One extra copper shim under the button.

Let me know things that you have done that gave you more run time. Thanks

Lottsa fuel line and a BIG Kyosho fuel filter!

I had my tank measured ... and it was small so I added the proper amount of fuel line to make up for the tank.

Still hunting and taking notes to find out which pipe / header combo works best for the three different engines I have.

Yeah I need to check the tank size. I forget the legal cc's allowed. Anyone know?

........... i believe an INS box
http://www.serpent.com/product/200305 will flow a less air than an open foam filter which will require you to lean the motor a little.........a little better mileage..............ALL the fast guys at Toledo run them...don't think they would finish a five minute qualifier w/o one.........

Switch to lower nitro content, eg. 16% or 20%

Change pipe.

And turn off air conditioning

Roelof 04-30-2008 01:42 AM

Run the 2013 pipe, it will give a lot of time.

Also try to lower the tank pressure

asw7576 04-30-2008 02:09 AM

what brand is 2013 pipe ?

what do you think with novarossi efra 2052 ?

Roelof 04-30-2008 04:03 AM

the 2013 is from sirio and does give 15 to 30 secs more runtime

The last pipe to use when you have fuel problems is the 2052, its a GREAT power pipe but fuel is terrible.

Do you make the 5 min mark?

Try the 2015 for NOVA or the 2018 from MAX, they have good power and they are great on fuel.

HI Roelof how are you doing? hope you are fine, we are great down here.

asw7576, when I grow up I will have the same real car as yours!!!!:lol: the only problem is I dont know were more to grow!!!!

RB, SIRIO and MEGA all have the 2013 pipe.

I am running the INS box and the 2031H JP pipe with a medium header. I don't make run time if I set everything up like I run the mains. How would you reduce the tank pressure?

cdelong 04-30-2008 08:10 PM

more fuel line from the pipe to the tank= less tank pressure, or a pressure chamber can add volume and smooth exhaust pulses for less, but more consistent tank pressure.

the 2031 is not a mileage friendly pipe. i'd go with the 2018 or 2015 pipe. great options for mileage and power.

drive for better mileage also...... roll on the throttle vs. grabbing a handful of trigger off the corners. see what others that make runtime are running for gearing.

Hai Andy, all is fine over here in Holland. the engines are getting faster !

Indeed the 2052 is the last one you want to use in the search of running time but you can use a non-conical manifold to save some fuel.

With the 2013 I have no problems reaching 5 minutes. The Nova engines will have a lower top rpm but lots of power you can compromise with other gearing.
