Except for the color, they are the same.

Man, I had troubles with the grey one this weekend. I had two freshly charged 3000NiMH sticks in there and it would not turn the engine over.

Granted the engine was a new OS but I had it pre-heated to 175*-180*. Even after a few break in tanks it still would not start the engine even with the glo plug out.

Are the OS's really that tight or could it be something else?

I am going to try some stronger packs from cheapbatterypacks.com and see what happens.

I run 4200 SMC packs in my Mugen grey box and it will start anything. It has alot to do with the batterys.

SMC is the company that matches and assembles the battery packs.

You have to forgive my ignorance as I did not build the starter box, I bought it pre-assembled. What are you talking about?

Mugen starter box were not pre assembled. You have to do it yourself. Unless your local hobby shop did it for you

Just change the 2 Mabuchi motors for some cheap 19 - 23 turns motors, I have Team Orion Havok 23 turns and have enough power to start anything and I do use some cheap 3000mAh packs.

Is it a new box? If so the brushes on the motors may not have seated to the armature yet. I don't know if you've had experience with bump boxes, so I gotta ask. Also make sure the flywheel is not hitting the chassis, and allow the starter wheel to spin up, before blipping the flywheel.

This is where I am concerned....mine only has 1 motor thus the question about the differences between the purple and the greay box.

Yes it is a new box but everything spins freely. How do I know if the brushes have seated or not?
