I just wanted to say thanks to Kel for helping to clarify what took place behind the scenes at the last POC. I have spoken to both Kel and Terry at lenth about this event. I would like to add to what Kel has already said.
Having worked with Terry for the past few months, I will agree with Kel when he says that when Terry has his mind set on something, it can be somewhat of a challenge to change. Terry's intention was certainly not anger those who came out to race. Basically, he wanted to make the event interesting and different from the previous races held at SVM last year. He thought that if the track was run backward and the now infamous 2x4 chicane was added, that it might give an advantage to the less experienced drivers as well as make it interesting and most importantly, fun for all the particpants too. In regard to the advantage going to certain drivers I explained to Terry, no matter where you go or what layout you put down, the fast guys are always going to figure it out first. Unfortunately not having the years of experiece in the hobby that some of us have acquired, Terry did not have the forsight to see the problems that could possibly arise from deciding to try something different and new at the last minute, especially when there had already been a stated commitment to run the 3/4 layout. Not knowing the facts, I supopse I may have been upset as a driver if I showed up to a race and found out the situation I was prepared for had suddenly been changed without notice. I also suppose if I had been the person who had put in all the work to prepare the track, that I probably would have been upset if everyone who showed up to race was complaining about it without giving it a try.
Either way it was a failed attempt and I think and hope it will be simply left at that. It's unfortunate that there are still some hard feelings lingering out there about this and hope those differences are resolved.
I hope that this adds some clarity to what happened. And if you feel like coming out to run, we welcome you to it. If anything is going to be changed, suggested or discussed, I assure you that ample time will be provide for this.
