You can start with an X conversion kit and see how fare you come but the 4R had also a lot of changes over the 4....

Default New Kit

the pserson who replied with buy a new kit was absolutely correct. i have tried upgrading in the past and it does not work. Mugen tends to make minor changes without changing part numbers, or letting you know a change have been made. I am sure there are atleast one or two parts in the new kit that are different from the conversion kit. I applaud them for listening to us racers and making changes when needed, but their documentation and relay of info is not as consistent or thorough like Serpent or some of the other manufacturers. I was suprised they even did an official conversion kit. I usually hear about tweaks/changes by word of mouth and that you know is very unreliable. Mugen needs to keep their website more up-to-date.

Yes it is possible to change a MRX4 to an X ... I did it and it works great, but I did with the conversion kit. You change the chassis to the new one and the bulk heads the rear A arms and roll center blocks.

You have to take the car all apart, everything BUT the radio tray

I don't think that anyone has any conversion kits left though

Good luck

Yeah, they stopped making the conversion kit so don't think anyone has any left. They were hard to find last year when they came out.
