New Radio, Which one?

Currently I have the JR Racing XR3i on my NTC3. I'm thinking of upgrading to the XS3 (crystal free) and a digital servo. I'm just wondering if anyone has any suggestions for a digital servo to use with this radio? Or if they suggest another type radio, but i would like it to be crystal free. I would like to keep it around $300 but I can go a little over if need be.

How does the Airtronics M8 radio compare to the JR Racing XS3? Is M8 crystal free?

M8 is not crystal free BUT you can buy a Novak module that will convert it to crystalless.

Puma, which radio do you have and is it crystal free? I'm looking for one that is crystal free.

yea, that does look nice. i already have servos, so i am set there, plus i'm looking into getting digital servos later on and it looks as though that radio can handle it. Great link, thanx :) PLUS i have a coupon for tower. :)

Well, you buy a M8 radio for about $200 then buy the Novak Crystal less module for about $100. There is your $300 radio with out the crystal less receiver!!
Its another $100 bucks for the matching Synthesized Receiver….sounds like the JR Racing XR3i is a better buy.

Anyway, what’s the big deal about a crystal less radio!?!? It will be cheaper to buy a couple of crystals then going through the Novak Switch Synthesized module. Then you can buy a real radio like a Futaba 3pk or a KO.;)

MY 2 CENTS WORTH.....

I've found the M8 for 269. if you found it for 200, let me know where :). plus the 100 for the module. thats already 369. I've already got the XR3i, but i would like the XS3 since it crystal free. why you may ask? just so i can have all the frequencies available just in case, as well as only having to dial in the freq instead of switching crystals, and perhaps losing them. Is the futaba 3pk crystal free?

He's referring to the M8 that is sold without servos and Rx which is about $180. Since you want crystalless then why buy the Airtronics RX.

Get the XS3 because it only cost about $230 and has a crystalless Rx and also comes with the Z590M servo which is a pretty nice little servo plus a standart Z250 servo.

The Futaba 3PK cost $300+ with no servos and either a PCM Rx or FM High Response Rx neither are crystalless. You'll need to buy a HiTec Spectra module for $100 and a Novak Rx for $100 bringing this set up to over $500!

if your gonna go sythesized

why not just buy the package

like for the hitec 3D lynx or the CRX, you can buy the model that comes with the spectra module and receiver for around $300

and the synthesized M8 package runs for around $400

BTW the JR receiver is alot bigger than the novak, just to let u kno
