I am not a scientist or a physics major, but does it not have to do with the technonlogy and design fo each format. Also to accelerate and top end are two differnet concepts with design...

just my thoughts!!

Ive had a few nitro cars and never really liked them do to:
Noise
Smell
Messy
Price of fuel
have to tune all the time
engine rebuilding
even though it gas you still need a charger and battery pack for the servos and electronics
if you plan on racing you usually need a second person to "pit" for you

electric can go just as fast as nitro if not faster. With the new technology of electronics they have the potential of longer runtimes and less maintnence.

just my 2 cents.

I am the die-hard electric man! I mostly ADMIRE the spec electric on-road car: hi-tech hop up, low maintance, reasonable price and faster.

Nitro? No thank, its not for me.

Question - Do you like Nitro or Electric and why?

My Answer - I like Nitro better for two reasons, reason one is because Nitro is faster and you don't have to charge your battery every couple of minutes. And my second reason is because what is the point in having a Rc that is not Nitro? Because Nitro is what seperates (TOY RC) from (HOBBY GRADE!) Even though electric does have a faster acceleration and is less noisy and expensive I still love NITRO!
its hard to agree that nitro is faster I have seen some elecs at my track 3.5t brushless and wow they go very quick in both top speed and accelleration!so electric would have to be better in this area.really at the end of the day either nitro or electric is both heaps of fun!just choose the one and go for it!!
cheers

An 8th scale onroad is made for faster cornering compared to electrics who are getting faster but still drives on those tiny tires.

Going for speed then yes, electric is faster....

See my 18th scale HPI Micro RS4:
