2nd Annual International Grand Prix

Thank You Racers
On behalf of Homestead RC Raceway, we would like to thank all of the racers, pit people, and friends who attended The 2nd Annual International Grand Prix. We were able to offer some great racing and expose our hobby/sport to thousands of spectators in a truly special atmosphere.
You were a great group of people to work with. Without your cooperation this could never happen. I hope all of you enjoyed the RC Car Racing, all the amenities that Homestead Miami Speedway provided, and of course all of the full scale racing inside the Speedway.
Thanks again, and remember we will be hosting the Super Regionals on May
17th, and 18th, at our permanent track.
Below are the final results.

Yeah, those turkey legs are gigantic and taste so good! Most of the racers went for the burgers or chicken with a large order of fries of course.
Good news on the tire wear! It is a fraction of what it was last year. The track crew knocked themselves out dragging abrasive blocks on the surface for a couple of days and then dragging weighted down truck tires to fill and rubber up the surface. It has really paid off with good traction and very tolerable tire wear.

I need to thank several people for this race. First to Randy Colvin for lending me a awesome engine when I broke mine. This guy also took his time away from working on his own car to fix my starter box and tune this engine for me. Gary Wiggins helped me out a lot with my car setup. He took the time to work with me and explain in detail on what the Hudy setup stuff is really used for. I actually qualified 10th overall and won the B-main. Can I get an Holy Cow do you believe in miracles? My fellow Red Cup Racers, Jim, Julian, Gary and Chris. It was a great time. Thanks to Julian for taking us to a fun restaurant Friday night. I have never seen a restaurant where its bring your own cooler. Food was excellent. Thanks to James for driving and saving my legs. I had a blast pitting with everyone and learned a lot from watching everyone work on there stuff.
Congrats to the Race Winners: Art "Master Yoda" , Ryan "The Rocket", And Felix on there Victories.
To the Hometead crew (Doug, John, Ray don't know the rest sorry) excellent job with this race. Track was great and this event was fun to run.
Folks if you did not run in this event you should make plans for next year. It is not often you get to run with this type of crowd watching.
By the way Mr Johnny Wong, If you ever are in the need of a new job I think you could get one has a chauffer. And yes John I had a good time!
See you all at the Fort for our next state race.

We're looking forward to viewing your photos Mike! Thanks to Doug and all of the Homestead RC volunteers for putting on a great event. Tire wear was not an issue at all and the track was quite fun to drive. A few days of Florida sunshine were very much appreciated by us from the great white north. Unfortunately a flu bug decided to attack me on Thursday night. It dampened my spirits a wee bit but I had fun none the less. Very nice to see many familiar faces too! Thanks again.

Article and about ten photos are posted on SGrid Online. The rest of the photos need to be made into image galleries, which will be posted tomorrow (Monday). I'll post a few images below.
To look at the galleries you'll need a flash player. I'd post them tonight, but it's now 2am and I'm tired. Will continue tomorrow.

Photo galleries are now posted. Scroll down to the bottom of the article to find the galleries, and make sure you have a 'flash' player installed first. Hopefully everyone's car is covered. Probably way too many photos, but you can select which ones you want to see in the larger size.

A big thanks to Johnny Wong, Duncan Chin, Joe Chin, Doug M! for getting the track ready to race, as well as running a smooth race! Congratulations to Art on his Sedan win! Also congratulations to Phillip and Greg for podium finishes! I had a great time this weekend not only racing, but watching the Indy races as well as the Grand Am Series. Can't wait to comeback down for the regionals. See you guys next weekend at Ft. Myers for the last state series race!
