Byron Fuel Nitro Challenge June 28 & 29 2008
The 4th Annual Byron Fuel On-Road Nitro Challenge will be at Leisure Hours R/C Raceway, Joliet, Illinois on Saturday June 28 & Sunday June 29, 2008.
Entry information will be posted soon at www.ByronFuels.com and www.leisurehoursraceway.com.
Quoted from the Byron Fuels Website:
"The first Byron Challenge was held in a school parking lot in Kenosha, WI. We drew a little over 30 drivers and wrote checks for over $5,000.00. The race was small but well organized and run by Mark and Jayne Sweeney and the Racine RC Club. It was a perfect weekend race and everyone there had a blast.
Word spread quickly and our second race stepped up to a full time track in Dekalb, IL. That race drew 50 participants and the word was really spreading about the quality of race and high level of participation. Mugen Seiki sent team drivers Mike Swauger, Darin Ishitani and Harry Hananouchi from California to check out the scene. Byron Team Drivers attended not only from the Midwest, but from New York, Washington DC, West Virginia, and California.
Challenge 2007 was held at Leisure Hours Hobby in Joliet, IL. We had over 75 drivers registered. The track conditions were the best in the Midwest and, according to several of the California contingent, superior to anything they had raced on in their home state. Mugen Seiki had us on their must attend race list and sent Mike Swauger and Harry Hananouchi. Ofna sent Jeffrey Lin (also a Byron Team Driver). Several more racers showed up from St. Louis, Eric Jones made it again from DC, a new Team Driver, Brad Toffelmire made the trip from Texas others to numerous to mention."
