Default 3 Racing Automatic Tire Truer V2 comments

3 Racing, makers of after market upgrade parts for R/C Cars, have just released the 2nd version of their Automatic tire truer. As with the first generation truer, it has a variable speed fully-automatic truing cycle, adjustable sanding edge and comes supplied with wheel adaptors for 1/8, 1/10 and 1/12 scale tires. What’s new is that you can now power it using built in batteries, similar to a starter box, it now has a handle and comes supplied in an extra light-weight protection box.

I have the version 1 truer, bought it 18 months ago. Very happy with it! Paid $235 for it, 1/8th & 1/10th arbor and shipping from Dinbal. Supplied cutting bits worked well but opted for the Hudy carbide. It changed the calibration of the diameter size but a scribe mark with the dremel cutting wheel and a dab of white paint got me pretty accurate. Strong motor cuts 3 or 4 mm on a single pass with no motor bog, powered by a gel-cell battery.

I like the addition of the onboard battery option and the tire dust tray! I haven't used the tire edge device because I only cut 1/8th and they are more for 1/10 size tires. What would be cool is if they were made with a permanent carbide surface instead of the stick-on 80 grit sand paper strips.

A lot of their parts don't. Chassis are not perfectly straight, Ti pillow balls are not rounded... But if it is a good unit, you can use a Hudy arbor.

I don't think they'll substitute Hudy arbors for the one's that come with it.

I've mounted both of mine (1/10th & 1/8th) on the 3M truer and they spin absolutely true!

Got mine!
Its a great machine.. cuts excellent.. trying to make fine adjustment on the cutting gauge so I will never use calipers, will trust on the truer
Regarding the cutting block, it goes right and return after hit the stopper then when hit left stopper it doesn't return. is that normal?

Yes that is how most of them work.

Glad you like it!....Love mine, it's the first version and doesn't have the stick pack battery hookup or dust tray.

Have you tried it with stick pack and if so does it have the same power as with a 20 or 30 amp power supply?

I'm kinda leary of using a truer running on stick batteries the tire must spin at the proper rpm with adiquate torque to true properly; I couldn't trust the power from a stick battery for all day trueing.

thanks pramac.. its my first truer and I'm learning it

No
I've been using a car battery. I plug it direct and for me is okay. Last time I cut .5mm of foam direct and the engine didn't bogged down
