Trying to get Dad into Nitro R/C

I am trying to get my Dad into the Hobby of Nitro R/C On-road. He has barely any intrest in it. His birthday is on July 22. I was thinking of fixing up my old NTC3 which needs engine, shocks, electronics, steering servo mounts, and screws for the fuel tank. But then again that might be somewhere around 220(about 180 for engine, 40 or more in parts). What do you think I should do? He has never driven a R/C before. So durability is the key here.

Just buy him a HPI RTR 3 for around 260$, durable enought to last, simple enough for a newbie, fast enought to keep you interested for awhile

Just tell him you can drive better than he can.
That should do it. ;)

i had my dad race with me when i was younger it was pretty cool but he lost interest after i repeated whooped him plus i guess it was hard on him since he was paying for my stuff and his own

That is a really interesting thread. It can be useful to know how other guys have gotten their dads in the RC hobby. They can help you with your hobby with their experience and also with their cash. I took my dad to a race and after that i got some pretty neat stuff for my car. When they see the actual race and the problems that are connected with it. So if you can hook your dad on RC it will be the best thing you can do for your hobby.
