Yeah! This is the first vid I ever saw of the GT class and was instantly hooked!

I've been doing recently a little bit testing with an outlaw engine for comparison purposes; yesterday radar showed almost 50 mph on the straight.. and I've shaved more that 1 seconds from the laptimes, from my best 22.440 with the stock setup to 22.160 with the option engine and taller gearing (17/21). The competition is far from being fair with engine like that but I'm sure you all new that already (I'm a fan of the stock racing and lots of plans for 2009)

I changed the pin from the 2nd gear to a 2.5mm pin (cut from a drillbit) and the stock gearbox seems to work very well.

One of our local stars Teemu Leino (Pro indoor&outdoor touring on international level) was practising at the track the day before and during charging his batteries he asked if he could try out my Ferrari and why not, of course, and he pulled a couple of fast laps after getting used to the car, the Orion laptimer showed 21.880, so now I know what to aim at

Mika,

The New Kyosho IGT-2 RTR cars will have a little stronger engine than what we’re racing with now, but will continue to provide a level playing feild during races.

Haven’t tried the new gearing yet, how does the stock engine like them on your track and what if any changes in lap times have you experienced?

Hi Jeff,
expecting to have the new IGT2 gears soon. I will let you guys know immediately how they feel and into which direction the laptimes will go after testing them.
I'm sure the new engine will be a good one. The current one isn't bad either but of course real race engines are different breed (and expensive!) I guess the the point is that IGT will be as fast as the engine is, it has the capability for that.
Hope also to get the GT2 to my hands soon!!! Love the Vette!

Nice vid.

So far we have had all our races at our local race track, but we have been thinking to have a race or races also on the parking lot. I think that these GT cars will perform well also on parking lots and that would give a lot flexibility and variability to this class and races. I noticed that your race was on the parking lot! How did you prepare the track, did you do more than just lay down the boundarys, did you clean the surface and did you add some traction additive?

Thanks for watching the video. What you don't see is all the people sitting on a grassy knol next to the camera. We get a lot of people stopping by to watch. Hopefully growing the hobby.

Track area is washed. Track is laid out. Grape soda is sprayed. It is not the most grippy surface, but, it helps to get the dust off and the soda is a cheap traction compound.

Default 1/8 scale on orad buggy/car

Wish this class would have taken more interest down here in Texas. I have 2 OFNA GTP's sitting in my garage and also had (sold) a TECHNOKIT TK4 which is a popular 1/8 Rally car they run in Europe. That kit is amazing and is carried by Larry's Perfomance R/C out of Sterling Heights, Michigan. Also found out at my LHS that Protoform is starting to make bodies for this class. Might have to dust mine off, slap in the .21 Axe/Rossi LS1 and put it up for sale. Oh, Technokit also makes a solid rubber tire for this class in soft , medium and hard compounds (looks like a BMW Y spoke wheek). I have 2 full sets of the hard compound and they are still like new and have been run hard on a parking lot oval racetrack. Once they get heat in them they gett super sticky. Don't get the soft, you'll chew em up after a few tanks. Just a little FYI.

Regards,

Speyederjedi

Default 1/8 Rally Technokit SPRY

Here is the link to get a look at the Technokit SPRY which is the same scale as the OFNA GTP and Kyosho IGT but is a much different design. This car is belt driven and is basically a larger version of a 1/10 scale 200mm.

Great video from the Villa.

Those belt driven cars are awsome and all, but do we need to try to start another class that will end up being more expensive that 1/8 scale on road?

Another thing, IGT guys, can you see how slow the single speed cars accelerate from a dead stop on that track compaired to our 2 speed Inferno's?

Those cars may cost a lot more, have very nasty engines and all, but if they come down to SS in Tampa we'll eat em up in the infeild

They's cool to look at, but I'm gonna pass
