Does anyone here have any experience with the RB RT10 engine? They are going really cheaply here, and I want a cheap .28 for my DM-1...

Smile Cobra GT in action

Thanks for a 'full length fearure' instead of the vid of a couple laps. That was good.

What is the caster angle and are there options for the car now or future planned?

I've heard guys are lining up to get their hands on the Cobra GT.

Single-speed?..

Engine sounds like it's straining at the end of the straight - and that straight's not even that long... (Anybody know what engine, pipe, and clutch he is running?)

This GT class looks great, but they should really outlaw bodies that don't resemble exactly what races in GT 1:1 racing. Hate to see a nice realistic body with an oversize RC wing on it. Otherwise you will get cars like the one in the above promotional ad looking more and more like a Can-Am racer (because of their aero advantage) rather than actual GT race car. This class shouldn't be about aero and speed (1/8th takes care of that). Should be about fun and plenty of "door" or should I say body rubbing on the track. Would be nice to see this class become popular all over the world with plenty of different manufacturer support.

It has a 2-sp but the track was too small for the settings that Billy had set. He didn't think he needed to use 2nd. We also tested at Homestead (a big track) and there it shifts 3-4 times. The Cobra GT uses the same tranny as the the 966, same pinions and spurs.. So you will have plenty of gear ratios to work with and it's a proven design...

Also, a 4-shoe buggy clutch (same as Cobra buggy & truggy) is standard with a Centax clutch (same as 966) available as an option. Billy used the 4-shoe clutch in the video.

Lastly, he was using a Novarossi Plus21-4 BTTS (w/ Nova pipe & header) in that video. We've tested both off-road and on-road engines. Both work well, it's just a matter of track size, power band preference...

Can't wait to get a look at the Cobra GT. Will this be kit only, or will Serpent offer a RTR version. What body will come with it? What gearing is stock? When can I order for the shop?

Yes, it has kick up. Cobra GT uses the same Diff cases, arms, ...general parts of the Buggy.

The first version will be in kit form like the buggy and truggy. Final details are being set right now. We will announce them very soon.

Default My two cents

I've got a buddy who is going racing with me and he decided to go GT. We got him a Kyosho GT2...what a piece of crap, not durable, two speed worthless, steering issues, etc....BUT....it had potential. So, we sold that thing and put together another one based on the GT2 platform with a lot of upgrades and strengthening where it needed, the upgraded two-speed, better steering, bolts, supports, etc. We did this on a budget you wouldn't believe and while I'd get shot if I let all the details out now, I can say we took an existing buggy/truck platform and with all conversions built a very sweet car that moves really fast, handles like a dream, and will take nearly any hit from any angle without breakage. Did this all on a budget of 650, which is two vehicles for the price of one since it can be converted back to what it was and used in offroad. I could see this being the future of the sport since you can race two totally different venues and save a ton of money doing it. I highly recommend tho that anyone interested in going the GT2 route not go with the stock motor that comes with it, there's no machining or changing you can make that will improve it enough to make it competitive, and I recommend if you already have one, invest in some a-arms off a truggy which seem to hold up a lot better as well.
