They’re close yes, but our GT events are typically held on larger tracks with full length straight sections left intact. Thus, our style of GT race cars realize some very high track speeds.

GT racing a single speed set-up is possible, but it would put much strain on nitro engines to carry the higher top speeds we do experience on the bigger tracks.

sorry guys, i found the answer to my question.

gt8 = buggy based car/shaft driven.

I thought with jspeed's comments i could just install a two speed tranny on a belt driven gt car an race it here in the us, but it seems like thats not enough to be a true gt8 class.

Vex,

Just sent you a pm on that, but I'll reply here too.

For the 2012 GT Worlds event in Puerto Rico in March, we have set up a new GT Outlaw class where belt and shaft drive GT cars can compete together. If you have a belt car, this will be an excellent opportunity to race it.

We'll have four GT classes to choose from:
Electric
Spec
Open
Outlaw

Its gonna be a lotta fun!

Look forward to having fun with your crew from Venezuela at the Worlds.

You're also welcome to run with us this December at the Winter Cup/Warm Up.

Gonna be fun!

It is old school yes except maybe for the IGW008 tranny on GTW26 shaft and the TRW shocks.
Love the car because it's wicked and not too noisy for suburban running
11mm hexes rear make the rear very stable (regular hexes in front)

The XRay Challenge is this Saturday and Sunday at Gulf Coast Raceway (it is a combined race with race #6(final race) of SouthWest Championship Series). In November there is the Gulf Coast Grand Prix on the 12th and the 13th of Nov. Both events will be at Gulf Coast Raceway in Porter, TX.

Bassman was hoping to make this race but not going to happen
