What class would a car run in that has a homemade chassis?

So, what is Kyosho doing as far as the GT class cars nowadays? The GT1 (original) has been discontinued and it is getting hard to get the Ferrari body for the short chassis car. The new two-speed transmission is nice but are they going to offer more gear choices? Are there any plans to re-release the GT2 with the new transmission? What about any new bodies from Kyosho for the GT2? It would be nice if they would give a little more support to their car and racers/bashers that run them.

I feel you on this statement. Kyosho America's logic on US product support and offerings completely mystifies me. They brought the GT cars to our market and they use to sell like hotcakes at IHOP. Then, they threw us luke-warm parts support. Now, we hardly get any support on the car. But like you said, they throw us an overly expensive offroad buggy (retails around $800 in my area) with somewhat decent parts support. But, how many of us have $800 for a rolling chassis just sitting around when you can get other competitors cars which are just a good but much cheaper? Then, to top off this "logic" train, they throw tremendous amounts of support to the Mini Z class in the US which is a very niche market at best. Outside of California and a couple of areas on the east coast, most of the US r/c world don't either know of the Mini-Z or treat the Mini-Z like the Traxxas mini Revo/Slash: just playtoys to bash and kill time when you are bored. They tell us they won't offer the Spada to the US market because it will take sales from their 200mm and 8th scale sales. Don't look now, but Kyosho sales of their onroad cars aren't that great anyway. Many stores in Texas have purged their stored of Kyosho onroad due to well below average sales and more affordable competitors' offerings.

I agree on the parts support for the IGT, However there is actually a very large following of Mini-z throughout the US. I'd dare say it's alot larger than anything related to the IGT. It may be a niche market, but it is a large market they the completely dominate. Along with a very productive aftermarket for products to pick up where Kyosho leaves off. There are very good drivers that run Mini-Z's as well as other scales with the likes of Mike Keely and Brad Toffelmire, Cristian Tabush, Jacob Feinstein, etc. that run the Mini-Z's both on and off season. I know of lots of clubs here in the states that compete regular races mostly on a bi-weekly basis, complete with lap timing, etc. Just like the events for the big cars.

I'm a Kyosho Dealer and their parts support here in the US through Kyosho America is lacking for most of their products they sell, IGT and Mini-z as well.

i never understand why kyosho charge different prices on the GT cars...same mechanical but different bodies...i just hope they don't get any ideas to raise the price on the GT cars...i give ofna credit for keeping all their GT cars under $500

That can be licensing agreements and stuff like that. Actually I have an OFNA just because of the lack of parts for the Kyosho.
